Unfettered capitalism has done the literal *opposite* of generating wealth in the west in recent decades. It's made a few *individuals* very wealthy, but on the whole western economies have done very badly at even keeping people at the levels they were at in the '70s, not to mention expanding their economic situation.
And the fewer fetters on the capitalism, the worse the outcomes.
