I don't see how a future will be built on bitcoin if these big companies amass huge amounts of it. I expect Blackrock will have over 1 million fairly soon and there's all the other ETF providers too, and MSTR who will never sell. I have been buying btc for seven years and for savings it has been great but the idea of the future built on bitcoin is just idealistic. On top of that a workable layer 2 to allow bitcoin to be used as payments for everyone is not even close to reality & if it does happen howany btc will be available after all the big companies have stacked & won't sell? It is scarce & it will increase in value but I don't see any future built on it tbh, it's a digital version of gold.

I've used Umbrel on a Pi for a few years and its a nightmare. Granted I haven't upgraded to the brand new Umbrel release but they released it without Wifi capability & besides upgrading Umbrel is always 50/50 on whether it will break everything & I was fed up of it happening. On top of that adding apps is a dice roll too. I resorted to using Bitcoin core & Electrum only so I can run a node and that's all.
I'm going to buy a used Optiplex or probably a new mini pc & install Start 9, it's much more stable, it might have less apps but stability is FAR more important.
I hate Telegram. Use it only for some groups never one on one chat. If I had my way we'd go back to IRC rather than use Telegram for groups.

His business is selling gold so it makes sense for him to publicly push gold. I can't imagine he doesn't have any bitcoin though. He trash talks it but he knows the value in it too.
You have to reserve it & once it's available you get notified & then pay for shipping. I received mine yesterday.
And of course everyone on X has a credit card already so it makes sense to use them. I bet less than 5% of X users have bitcoin, 10% at most.

He asked why Argentinians aren't "using" bitcoin. That's different from saving in bitcoin. Argentinians use stablecoins more than they use bitcoin because it's a lot more practical. Bitcoin hasn't scaled enough to use as a medium of exchange but it's great for saving. Stable coins are used far more often for day to day useage than bitcoin & until a scalable working Layer 2 solution is created it will remain that way.
I also bought a replacement antenna for my Heltec to help reach nodes better than the stock antenna. Can't remember the cost but somewhere between $10-$20 on Digikey. Apparently antennas on Amazon or Aliexpress are not always what they claim to be so best to purchase from a reputable outlet specializing in electronics etc

Sure it has enough support for now but if it's just a small subset of bitcoiners & no user growth then funding for that development is likely to shrink. This is why people like Jack want ideas to get more users onto Nostr and he has some experience in the area of social media/networks. You don't care but those who want this to grow do care.
Thing is it's a very small & narrow set of users, it's almost exclusively bitcoiners & without a growing userbase it will have limited development.
You use an app on your phone via bluetooth. Meshtastic has Android & iOS apps that you control the device. You also use the app to type messages and then send them via the device so it's all dependent on Bluetooth & radio not cellular
I've been using Meshtastic for a few months. Line of sight is critical to it's useage so hills, buildings can block transmissions easily.

Nope, never will. I even have an ex-gf who refuses to accept that the lab leak is the most likely explanation for how it started & clings onto the unbelievable story of it coming from a market in the VERY SAME city as the lab that was doing experiments on this exact type of virus. She once sent a NTY article that supported the market heory & debunked the lab leak to her brother & told him he was an asshole for being a conspiracy theorist because he said the virus came from the lab. I've blocked her from contacting me 🤷‍♂️
