Those who can read and understand are always best off in life!

I am not a sales rep for Threema.

I´ve got some license for sale - thats all!

I offer this in many of my posts. It's amazing how long it took you to find that!

And that doesn't change the security, sophistication, and privacy of Threema either!

Threema vs SimpleX Comparison

Anonymity

Threema: Users can sign up without providing a phone number, but it’s still possible to link an email address or phone number to the account. This leaves a paper trail, making it less anonymous.

SimpleX: Does not require accounts or user IDs. Users create profiles and databases stored on their devices, ensuring complete anonymity.

Decentralization

Threema: While Threema decentralizes some data, such as contacts and private keys, on user devices, its servers still transmit messages using end-to-end encryption (E2EE).

SimpleX: Decentralized messenger that doesn’t rely on centralized servers for message routing. Messages are routed using temporary anonymous pairwise identifiers.

Cost

Threema: A paid app with a one-time fee (currently $3).

SimpleX: Free and open-source.

Features

Threema: Supports voice and video calling, group chats, polling, and file sharing. Requires a mobile app installation for desktop use.

SimpleX: Supports group chats, voice messages, and sending file attachments. Does not have video calling or desktop app support.

Security

Both Threema and SimpleX prioritize security and use E2EE. However, Threema’s reliance on centralized servers for message transmission raises concerns about potential vulnerabilities.

Conclusion

SimpleX offers stronger anonymity and decentralization, making it a more suitable choice for those seeking maximum privacy. Threema, while still a secure option, has limitations in its anonymity and decentralization. If you prioritize complete anonymity and decentralization, SimpleX might be the better choice. If you’re willing to compromise on anonymity for a more established and feature-rich messaging app, Threema could be a suitable option.

Key differences:

Anonymity: SimpleX offers complete anonymity, while Threema leaves a paper trail.

Decentralization: SimpleX is fully decentralized, while Threema relies on centralized servers.

Cost: SimpleX is free and open-source, while Threema is a paid app.

Features: Threema has more features, including video calling and desktop app support, while SimpleX is more basic.

You should do your own research instead of just collecting half-knowledge about a wannabe artificial intelligence!

############## MONEY ##############

There are no "free" messengers in this world. They all need money for employees, programmers, offices and servers.

Please always look very carefully at where the money comes from and you know who is behind it.

SimpleX Chat received 380,000 dollars from Village Global. This is the venture capital company of Jef Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, ect.

This means that big tech companies have already long been involved in SimpleX Chat!

See

https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/simplex-chat

and

https://www.villageglobal.vc

Also involved Jack Dorsey and Asymetric Capital Partner!

Threema, on the other hand, is only paid by its users and is therefore only obligated to its users!

########### Servers #############

SimpleX Chat don´t know how many servers they have!

Then they also don't know who is behind some servers!

This provides a large attack surface for collecting metadata. The big tech companies only need the IP address and they know which user it is.

How do they do that?

85% of all smartphones use Google's Android and this sends encrypted data packets to Google every day. This means that Google knows the IP address of every user.

Amazon (online shopping monopolist in Western countries) knows the names & addresses of users (if an order was recently placed with the IP)

Microsoft (operating system monopolist worldwide) knows the IP of the home computer and Internet router.

This is the reason why it is insanely dangerous to get involved with money from big tech companies.

They don't put their money into SimpleX because the logo looks so great, but because they want a “foot in the door” and data.

PS: The same goes for Signal, they also run all their traffic through Google, Amazon, Microsoft & Cloudflare.

What does Threema's server do?

It only stores messages until they have been successfully delivered to the recipient and then deletes them again. The message is then overwritten by new messages on the server disk. This means that the deleted message cannot be recovered.

This seems to me to be a much safer way than using a service like SimpleX, where the operators don't even know who is behind their server.

And that "paper trail" with Threema is totally bullsh*t! No Threema User needs to give out any personal information = 100% anoymous!

And the ThreemaApp itself can be purchased with Bitcoin or Cash = 100% anonymous.

DM´s need to be deleteable - which is not possible at the moment.

And they shouldn´t create any metadata = the hardest part!

Messenger with a short ID and no metadata are available = it´s called Threema!

Hi nostr:npub1qtvl2em0llpnnllffhat8zltugwwz97x79gfmxfz4qk52n6zpk3qq87dze

Some feedback from a new BitAxe miner.

I got my miner a couple of weeks ago and immediately joined the OCEAN pool. I regularly had issues, which I assumed was the miner,

i.e. the miner appeared to work, but it gave errors and regularly showed it was disconnected from your pool. I power cycled it most days. I thought I had a duff miner, but was going to live with it.

Then you had your outage, I’m sorry, I hope you are managing to recover.

So I started solo mining on the ckpool. Since I joined, the solo mining pool, I’ve not had a single issue. TBF, I also moved WiFi APs as I wasn’t certain if it was a bad WiFi connection.

I haven’t rejoined OCEAN yet as I was aware you were, quite correctly, concentrating on your large miners.

As my miner appears to be working just fine and potential WiFi AP issues aside, is it possible you have any issues with your pool coping with small miners like BitAxe?

I am aware that as you attempt to decentralise mining and fulfil your DATUM ambitions, you are going to attract more and more home miners who buy products like the BitAxe or Braiins miner to support the network.

With Very Best Wishes

A novice miner.

I am lucky with pool,braiins.com which sends me 33 sats every day!

Growing Nostr is hard. Not because we don't have the tools, but because it requires the hard work of many of us, not just the few. Decentralization is great, however this means that no centralized growth team is going to step in and do the work that's needed. We'll have to rely on a multitude of people to accomplish this. These people will be cultivating and nurturing Nostr's growing ecosystem. They're seeking out unique communities, on-boarding new users, and educating them on the tools at hand, so that new users can create their own spaces on Nostr.

These have been initiatives of mine since the beginning days here. I love building communities, helping people use technology, and speaking about my passions.

Many people across Nostr are working on similar initiatives, trying to #grownostr and foster community. nostr:npub1hz5alqscpp8yjrvgsdp2n4ygkl8slvstrgvmjca7e45w6644ew7sewtysa is one of them. We spoke at extent last week about her current project. She volunteered at the Nostr Booth that I organized at nostr:npub167n5w6cj2wseqtmk26zllc7n28uv9c4vw28k2kht206vnghe5a7stgzu3r a few months ago, got purple pilled in the process, and is now planning on doing similar initiatives at three Latin American conferences coming up soon.

I had a conversation with the organizer of LaBitConf in Prague, who expressed a strong interest in having a Nostr presence at his upcoming conference. He asked that I replicate the same level of involvement he witnessed in Prague, including a booth, speakers, panels, and more. He clearly recognized the significance of Nostr and was eager to feature it prominently at his event. Unfortunately, I had to decline, as it’s not feasible for me to attend every conference. However, this is where the strength of the Nostr community comes in—others can step up and make it happen.

This is what Tanja is doing! Check out her project.

nostr needs user, who don´t talk about Bitcoins all the time!

No - its not an "professional security analyses" of Threema!

Everything mentioned there was already out of date when it was published. Because it refers to an old protocol that Threema no longer uses.

These are no discoveries, no scandal. Everything the author wrote was already known before and available to the public.

If you want to know what kind of nonsense it contains, you should read this very detailed article about it:

https://blog.dbrgn.ch/2023/1/14/threema/

Or Threema's public denial:

https://threema.ch/en/blog/posts/news-alleged-weaknesses-statement

Background: Threema started a bug bounty program 6 months earlier. Anyone who reports serious security bugs to Threema can receive up to CHF 10,000 as a reward.

And a student at ETH Zurich thought that it would be easy money if I simply collected all of Threema's public shortcomings and “sold” it to them.

Of course, he got nothing!

Up to this day, Threema is still the most secure messenger!
