Hey--did you get your friend set up with Linux / BTC? Everything go well?
You can--at least on #Primal desktop. You have an "Explore" option where you can see notes from only your follows, or your follows and people they follow, or global.
It's one of the best things about #Primal that I like (and use frequently).
Give it a try... π
Hmmm...I get it...and yet that's one of the first things I did when I got on Nostr was to create my mute list (and oh my it's pretty big at this point). And make no mistake, I'm still at it...months later.
But (just like choosing friends IRL) there's no "easy button" I'm afraid...
I'd rather have a difficult and time consuming effort to create my ban list than have some type of automatic filtering...or some other mechanism to limit free speech on this platform. That trade off is well worth the effort IMHO. π
There should be NO limits.
Period. Full mic drop.
(And don't give me that BS about yelling 'fire' in a movie theater--that's just a way to get the camel's nose under the tent)
I suppose...yet I see this as not really appropriate.
We should each choose our own friends.
I actually agree--even though Nostr can exist (and be somewhat of a refuge for free speech) practically speaking, it is dead.
We all know there are now words you cannot say, and phrases that will get you fired from your work and perhaps even put in jail.
When words have become a crime, free speech (and dare I say freedom of thought) is dead.

Saturday in the park? Maybe...it's supposed to rain. We'll see...
Still have my coffee though! π

And perhaps worse still is differential enforcement, where one group is allowed to break the law and another group isn't.
Hmmm...I kind of see that as the point to Nostr...you can say what you want, if people don't like it they can mute you.
Just like IRL you get to choose your friends. If someone's not a person you'd like to associate with, well, you have options.
But the PLATFORM allows everyone an equal voice.
Free speech is just that--free speech. It's not "forced listening".
It's taken me YEARS but I think I finally have my older brother realizing security and privacy are important...
But he still can't give up Facebook, so...more work to do....
π
And what about the $1.7 BILLION in CASH that Obama sent to Iran?
CASH
If BTC is so great for terrorists, why didn't they have Obama send Bitcoin?

Bet you'll have a great time!
Well, don't keep us in the dark...who is it? (Or is it the Who?) π
Just found @`DarthCoin βΏβ‘οΈ guides:
Great stuff! Thanks so much for putting this together!! π

Decentralized Coinjoins.
https://jamapp.org/ I guess many of you know it, it is the graphical interface to use Joinmarket. On the other hand https://joinstr.xyz/ is another way to make coinjoins in a decentralized way and using Nostr as a communication and coordination layer, this last one is still in the testing phase. We must stand up to the system, coinjoin is not a crime, now more than ever we must continue using Bitcoin, and mixing.
Every time I turn around there's something really cool coming out on Nostr! π
This was just an example--my point really is that when push comes to shove, most people will back down.
See J6 as an example--call someone a "terrorist" and you get to lock them up forever.
And that one event (and the resulting "punishment") has resulted in zero ongoing protests since...
Yes that's fear...and no matter what you call it, it's easy for folks to say "rebel" and "resist" but virtually no one will do it when the time comes.
I get it, but then I have to navigate back to where I was reading in a string of messages - I don't want to "lose my place" but just want to comment where I am π
And when someone is holding a gun to your wife's head, saying: "Give me your keys or she dies" how many of us will say "no".
Really...
