There’s an assumption the US legal system is fair and leans towards justice and that is not true. Trump’s legal troubles are a distraction from the fact that we have 3 geriatric men of questionable competence running for president and a sitting president who thinks its fine to bring in the police for peaceful resistance to US funding of a massacre. We are in real trouble with no discernible leadership to get us out of this mess.

Lettuce is sprouting! What’s coming up in your garden? #gardening #gardens

The desperation of tech companies to make shopping social is so bizarre. What problem is being solved here? nostr:note1dwdrj384sawydw4m5n0ftygeh92tu6sh05u86x5letkwt7u4a0usm806yu
This is the best framing Ive seen especially as it relates to the reconfiguration of our neurons. Makes complete sense.
I want to live in a place with winter public pools! This is Iceland but many places in Northern Europe have year round swimming options. https://kottke.org/23/06/swimming-pool-stories

Exciting to see in-app tools to make cross posting across the social web easier! Congrats to the Openvibe team! nostr:note1wtsyr7fatjps2m24q790myyz94yg7rhsf2e4ps7qqszzrjsyecvqp2equp
The Fediverse = activitypub. The social web is all the networked protocols allowing communication between them.
Witch hazel saplings are leafing out! Can't wait for January / February to see the blooms!

Woah it looks antique in this photo. Nice effect.
Weekend #gardening update
Built a deer (and bear 👀) fence for our raised beds.
Transplanted tomatoes and kale into the beds
Removed poison ivy from the only patch we’ve discovered
Scatter planted sunflower seeds
Transplanted columbine from a pot into the ground.
Fencing
We used beech saplings that we took down last weekend as the posts and secured them into the ground with a mix of rocks, clay and soil. Then we wrapped the sticks with heavy metal gauge fencing and zip tied the fencing to the posts. This is a test year to see if there’s enough light in that location to grow vegetables. If so we’ll put up a sturdier fence in the coming years.
Raised Beds
Opted for metal as opposed to wood. Our land is very damp and we’ve had wood in the past. Filled them first with sticks and leaves and then compost and raised bed soil on top.
Poison ivy removal
Wear gloves! Then use a bag to cover the gloved hand / arm you are pulling with. Wipe everything with poison ivy wipes afterwards. This time of year is when it is most potent. To insure you rooted it all out, try to locate the “mother”. I’m not sure I found it, but I’ll keep an eye out on new growth and where it emerges from.
Scatter planting seeds
This weekend I dropped sunflower seeds just below the surface in multiple places. it’s likely too shady for anything to grow, but we’ll see. My poppy scatter planting from six weeks ago (in clay no less!) appears to be generating results. I am seeing some sprouts!
Columbine - for flowers that grow under most conditions
Awful soil? Little water? Too much clay? These plants do not care. They will take pretty much anywhere. Presently I have some in the shade that are starting to flower - stay tuned next week. And I transplanted some volunteers from an old pot to a sunnier spot with subpar soil.

👏👏 HUGE THANKS to all the folks who helped make the initial launch a success!

Giving creators a two month opportunity to focus on their craft instead of gaming algorithms for visibility is what makes Nostr an exciting protocol!
Check out their profiles and give them a follow or zap!
#asknostr - I was onboarding someone new to Nostr who has experimented with the Metamask wallet in the past. Is there a way to connect this wallet to Nostr? They would like to continue using it if possible.
If so, can you point me in the direction of a good tutorial to share with them. I did google to see if Metamask supports Lighting and it appears that it does, but… google these days…
The FOMO driving tech at the moment is insane especially if you’ve ever worked on cleaning data sets for ML and AI. Grabage in garbage out…
Last night we went to hear Colin Stetson play outdoors. He’s an instrumental saxaphone player who also scores movie soundtracks.
Turn the sound on to hear a clip from this haunting piece.
Highly recommend checking out his show if he’s in your area.

The grift is real. While this lawsuit is about late fees, US credit card companies “points system” is funded on the backs of merchants in the form of processing fees. In the US - supposedly the home of free enterprise- banks and creditors grift off everyone while adding little value to the system. https://wapo.st/4aiN1Au
Also the US legal system is a joke - the end of this article….
Thanks. On nostr:
1) anyone can report posts
2) anyone can label posts
3) you can choose someone else (e.g. nostr:npub1sn0wdenkukak0d9dfczzeacvhkrgz92ak56egt7vdgzn8pv2wfqqhrjdv9 ) to be your moderator on Nos.social and perhaps other apps nostr:npub1pu3vqm4vzqpxsnhuc684dp2qaq6z69sf65yte4p39spcucv5lzmqswtfch
4) I think nostr:npub1j60x528w2g2vkq5kae5uhh8y7sezjyj20zcsg0v9muc72cmdpu0s0md7ua and co are experimenting with a reporting bot
Thanks nostr:npub1zafcms4xya5ap9zr7xxr0jlrtrattwlesytn2s42030lzu0dwlzqpd26k5 We have been experimenting with moderation tools including:
- ability to label (report) notes
- ability to label (report) accounts
- a moderation bot you can subscribe to that will label text posts that are offensive to some.
There’s no centralization on Nostr so our original use of the term reporting was not accurate. We updated the language in our most recent release to say flag. As it better represents what happens. A post that is flagged in Nos and other apps that support NIP56 will have an overlay and label on it. Users have the option to chose if they view it or not.
Until this release labels were all attributed to the person labeling the content which resulted in unwanted backlash from those whose content was being labeled. (This is in part due to one app that is notifying people their content has been reported thus fueling the backlash).
Users in Nos now have the ability to send to Nos which sends the note to the bot for review. If the bot agrees the bot labels the post. If the bot doesn’t agree it comes to our team and we review it (usually these are image notes the bot is not equipped to handle.) if we find it to match the NIP56 criteria we instruct the bot to label the post.
We’ll be sharing more details in the coming weeks on our website and in the bot account.
