Anybody familiar with DELL PowerEdge servers? I've got a T140 here that I was going to use and replace my VPS as I can run some other services as well as my current ones with this.
Getting ready to install Debian to it and have 2 available bootlable drives. A 2tb SATA and "PXE Device 1: Embedded NIC 1Port 1Partiton 1" which shows as approx 500gb drive.
I'm not entirely sure what the Embedded NIC port drive is tho. My question is, would installing Debian to it as my main drive and using the 2tb drive for storage be OK?
The server I scored that was left behind by my previous employer is a DELL PowerEdge T140. With power backup/reserve. Pair that with the couple DELL OptiPlex 5080 micro's, HP ProDesk 400 G3 minis & assortment of other towers, monitors, etc & and was a pretty sweet haul.
My previous employer is trying to cheat me and not pay out my unused vacation hours. That's not going to fly with me. You have until the end of the week to initiate a deposit or hand me a check. Otherwise you get to deal with lawyers, labor board, etc.
My wife is going to love it. I had a computer hoarding problem once before but gave some away and recycled the rest because she needed the closet for storage. I'm gonna set both the kids up with their own PC so that I have access to my laptop again and store the rest under the bed until I think of what I'm going to do with them.
Cool. Scored a Dell OptiPlex 5080 from work. New owner tossed the previous owners left behind desk computer out so being as I live upstairs, I took it.
Wiped the drive and slapped a fresh Debian install on it and everything seems to be working fine.
Spoke to new owner and he plans to junk all the equipment left behind and is going to let me take it all. 2 more 5080's, 2 other Dell systems and 2 Lenovos, as well as 3 or 4 Acer v206hql monitors.
What I'm super interested in, is the server upstairs. Can't wait to see what's contained in that rack.
Pretty sweet score tho.

I had a section of human brain in my parents freezer as part of a 8th grade science project. Picked it up from a local college with my Mother, who was absolutely not a fan of it.
I think a 20oz bottle of Barqs Root Beer has close to the same as a cup of coffee. I'd assume a 12oz Red Bull energy drink has more than an average cup of coffee. I could be wrong tho, that would explain the coffee jitters.
I consume large amounts of caffeine (from root beer & peach Redbull) but a cup of coffee gives me jitters every time. I've tried to make sense of it but can not.
