I've definitely softened towards catholics in this period, much because of the work of Trent Horn the apologist. Kinda crazy when you pop your head out of your denominational echo chamber how coherent other christian worldviews, who you thought were enemies, are.

Most of my higher education was reformed Presbyterian at RTS. I remember taking Dr. James Andersons class dealing with doctrinal definitions, counters, proof texts, and rebuttals for the doctrines of grace and being blown away at the reformed systematic theology and its universal application. So most of my Christian life I was reformed, and that is still how my brain is wired, though I have worked as a volunteer children's minister in a charismatic church for the last decade 😅.

Orthodoxy hit me like a semi about a year or 2 ago, and my worldview was destroyed for the most part. While I naturally default to reformed thought, there is that nagging voice in the back of my head telling me I'm probably 99% wrong on most of it. That being said, having a broken systematic theology has forced me to trust less on my intellectual ability to determine truth from heresy through my own subjective interpretation abilities, and has forced me to be more prayerful and dependent on Him. I see it as a win lol

Sorry but I’m not buying the Primal outrage. Either you are ok with their trending feed (an algorithm you DON’T control by definition that is going to include whatever filtering they see fit) or you aren’t ok with it and choose not to use it.

If you want to use nostr without algos like you claim you do, you are absolutely unaffected by any of this.

Primal is a foil for revealed preference.

While studying the Second Council of Nicaea, the 7th ecumenical council of 787AD, I remember being challenged by the apologetics work of John of Damascus. Much later in church history, John Calvin would reject the position of this council as did the muslims at that time, however, we don't see any commentaries on his response to John of Damascus, as though he didn't know he existed.

I often forget just how much the world has changed in even just 30 years. Before the internet, people had to hunt down sources to compile their works. Nowadays, you simply ask the AI to give you an answer with sources and you arw provided a lifetime of work in miliseconds.

Puritan missionaries use to spend years learning a new language before preaching the gospel. Nowadays, you can send a digital gospel track or bible to someone in China instantly, in their language. Doug Wilson once stated that if you take history in 500 year chunks, you can see that the church is clearly winning.

Expiring, replaceable music statuses. The d param could be something other than music as well so you can have more than one status with different expirys.

The expiration stamp on music statuses is when the track ends, so you can calculate how far the person is through the track. Not sure if useful but is fun!

I wouldn’t recommend picsur for scale. It also uses DB backend, and lacks some moderation tools. I used it because it provided a lot of really useful features, such as URL based image conversion. It would be perfect for a self hoster though.

If some of the proposals end up working the way you described in your other post, and have a standard API, then that’s great. It’s almost not “relay hosting the image” in that case though, it’s more like “relay+hosting” configuration.

Yeah, agreed, it should almost be a different thing, except I think the network topology already in place with relays is valuable
