Last day of work for me and then off for Christmas 🙏🏻

I think in some ways it all boils down to fiat.

Debasing the money steals the gains made by technology, robbing people of their time and then fund feminist/socialist propaganda to make sure the remaining time is used to be a worker drone for the fiat machine instead of raising families and building communities.

If we remained on something like a gold standard most men could provide for a large family on a part time job and most women wouldn't have been trained to behave like men .

Yes, I'd say that there has always been a subset of women with this temperament but only with modern technology and ideology have they been able to engage in these occupations. Women are more prone to outside influence than men because historically, being ostracized by the group would mean death for themselves and their children in small communities.

I think there's a bunch of things that can be done:

- Call out feminist propaganda in media

- Be a good example as a man or woman respectively

- Teach them to lean into their femininity in a healthy way

- Tell them that very few people find the most meaning and fulfillment from their career

There's a bunch more but these are simple ones that pop into my mind

I have a guy trying to shill me pi coin to me over the last year. Like, if you're gonna push a shitcoin at least pick one of the more advanced scams.

A lot of people just listen to the FUD or assume a decentralised network is a bad thing and never bother to look any further, even software developers.

You also get those people that because they are specialised in one area, they consider themselves an expert on everything. Someone might be great at writing code but that doesn't mean they know anything about money or economics.

Bitcoin is an ego check and I've worked with some seriously big egos in software development 😆

These are valid concerns and although we can't always articulate it perfectly I think people can feel nostr is going to be the new internet. Added my thoughts to the read 👍

## Introduction

I am a BTC maximalist, but on my journey toward Bitcoin, I had many questions and fears that held me back from buying the best money in the world. Looking back, I now realize that all my fears stemmed from a misunderstanding of the Bitcoin protocol.

Today, I find myself in a similar situation with Nostr. Could you — Nostr heroes, developers, and legends — help a newbie better understand the Nostr network?

## POINT 1: Nostr will never become a widely adopted network

I think I understand the benefits of Nostr, but, like many of you here, I’m not a typical social media user. I highly value privacy, freedom of speech, decentralization, and real ownership of money and data. I see many like-minded individuals here, but who else would have the motivation to start using Nostr?

Content creators? Those whose accounts were canceled or shadow-banned on platforms like Facebook or Instagram? Unlikely — their audience simply isn’t here.

Consumers? Again, unlikely — their friends aren’t here, and they don’t care about Nostr’s benefits. They’ve never been banned, and they believe current social networks are truly free.

I’m curious: how many users on Nostr are not connected to Nostr or Lightning development? I just can’t imagine an event that would cause users to start switching en masse to this network.

**>> What could motivate regular social media users to try Nostr?**

## POINT 2: No marketing

Nostr is currently a niche, nerdy space. But so what? Bitcoin was in a similar position just a few years ago. However, Bitcoin is money — and money, as a source of power, has always attracted people. Plus, Bitcoin’s rising price serves as an automated global marketing campaign. Many people also have an incentive to promote Bitcoin because they earn money from trading platforms or related services.

With Nostr, there’s no equivalent incentive structure.

**>> Who will promote Nostr?**

## POINT 3: Trust in the Nostr system

The Bitcoin protocol has already shown us that the best systems are trustless. Currently, it's customary to pay "zaps." We assume some users will do this, but, in my opinion, most creators will find it easier (and more profitable) to use platforms like Patreon or HeroHero. These platforms allow creators to put content behind a solid paywall rather than relying on voluntary user donations. Is similar model possible on Nostr? Is really the trust in user donations really the right direction?

**>> Why should creators offer their content for free and depend on user donations?**

I'm pretty much a noob too and have never been much of a public social media user either but this is the way I see it.

As Bitcoin becomes more widely used, so will #nostr because it is built on top of it.

A peaceful revolution is happening where people are moving to a low time preference world view and that is exactly what nostr facilitates as the new internet.

The walled gardens with guaranteed fiat income are attractive to the high time preference individual, but a lot like those who sold Bitcoin for fiat to buy cars and boats 10 years ago, they are still looking at the world through a fiat lense.

The small inconsistent zaps you nostr content creators receive today will be worth so much more than the fiat paywall bucks.

Slowly the edgier content creators like nostr:npub14am887cf6kvwkce89nt7dsw3v9qrrn0uppxyvr6a2jd7xdwuwccqwnudp2 will move over when the old internet becomes too suffocating to function any longer and eventually they will all move when they realise the that #bitcoin is the new money.

That's my 2 sats.

Upping my default #zap to 210 sats because it won't be long until 21 sats are worth less than one Great British Decline Penny

I think this step was inevitable. Once it became the obvious store of value, they had to adopt it but to try frame it as an asset to be held by governments and institutions. That will delay the normies realising it is also a method of exchange.
