Doesnt save past chats either 🫠

Just claimed #uk lol

I just want the capabilities for people to talk about topics they care about (besides the price of bitcoin) and for not everything to become a mush of bitcoin slogans. That's it lol

This is why bitchat is actually exciting as a covert nostr client.

They come, they quickly leave. They state their complaints,( the ones who bother). No one listens to them lol. Repeat.

Yeah 1 was forgettable. Glad they released both at the same time. Although I haven't bothered to watch ep 3 yet, wasn't that gripped.

It's not complicated. They leave because bitcointwitter is boring. Nostr has made itself bitcointwitter2 partly by accident and partly by design.

It's not pathetic to want to talk about things other than bitcoin slogans, or have a social media that breaks down because the price of an asset changes. This is very normal lol.

This argument has been had over and over and over again on nostr.

The people leaving because they don't want bitcointwitter2 (and see nostr as never breaking free of that) have a valid complaint. In fact they have mostly been proved right.

Only in theory, in practice it has repelled wave upon wave of new users with the vibe of bitcointwitter

And be forever trapped inside a bitcoin chatroom. Great idea lol

Plus people don't want nostr, this is for bitcoiners. People like bitchat lol

Had a quick look, looks a bit like discord.

I think there's pretty much no need to improve the UI of a bulletin board tbh

Get in you lot. Shoo

I think you said private groups are coming. That would be a chat thing I assume? Forum/messageboards would be amazing. Perhaps this makes moderation a bigger problem tho?

Forums as well as chatrooms. I keep banging this drum lol

'When French content creator Raphaël Graven died this week during a livestream lasting nearly 300 hours (almost a fortnight), the most disturbing aspect was surely that the grisly spectacle had a mainstream audience. This wasn’t a snuff film put out on social media — it was a popular stream with an active live chat

...Social media has completely inverted this. Instead of fictional suffering which resolves into meaning, we now consume real suffering that offers no resolution. Reality television sped up this inversion by training audiences to consume authentic-seeming breakdown for its own sake, but streaming has perfected it, instigating a race to capture attention at any cost.'

I think after being here for a few waves of adoption , you realize a lasting adoption won't work like that. Not even had a wave of adoption for ages and ages.

Bitchat with the geohash groups built on nostr might be a promising one. Not sure nostr has ever had a nostr client that isn't a microblogging client have people join it. Potentially people using bitchat wouldn't even know it's nostr or what nostr is.

But there is certainly no likelihood of nostr-as-microblogging getting and retaining any waves of adoption in the near future.
