Nostr has so many hurdles in adoption ('why don't they shut up about the price of Bitcoin?') without the ai slop (sometimes there is a cross over)
I don't really know if users care about the production, as long as it's maintained and reliable (so not a throwaway vibe codes app for eg.)
But the aesthetic choices devs make especially really are quite important, you have banners, public/promotional etc material and even some app logos themselves, being awful ai slop. As a passerby, this points to something much worse. Aesthetic decisions are important.
Because the devs like ai slop and don't really care that it puts more people off than attracts people.

But yes I think more generally AI images are now pretty much associates with the deception of especially the more vulnerable and gullible, scams and what not. Which no one likes.

Generally you see way more usage of AI images in blog posts, pfps and on the timeline on nostr than anywhwre else (in my experience at least).
It also adds up to: This is the place for people who like ai images
Nostr devs really underestimate how much people hate ai
