Ok, sorry but I have to just go ahead and say it: what's with all of this "empath" stuff?

Healthy human beings experience what some seem to think is an extraordinary marked phenomenon called "empathy". In fact, having empathy is SO typical that if you do NOT show the capacity for empathy towards others that is a diagnostic symptom of several cluster B personality disorders such as BPD, NPD, and sociopathy.

So please explain to me why there are people who walk around thinking that their capacity to have empathy for others, to feel by proxy emotions when intense things are shared with them, to be impacted by it, to "sense" the emotional weight that others carry (this "sense" is called perception and... EMPATHY)... is an extraordinary superpower that makes them unique and fairy-like and requiring a lot of extra-special woo-woo things like "extra self-care" and "spiritual protection"? Is your capacity to feel empathy somehow more glorious than the next person's? Every one of us has these feelings!

Literally, anyone who isn't a sociopath or who does not suffer from severe psychological disorder is an "empath" then - so please... let's reel it in. There ARE a lot of things about you that probably make you unique and special, but the capacity to feel empathy is part of being a typically abled human.

So when and where did this "I am an empath, I have extraordinary feelings and needs" thing come from? What am I missing? It seems silly to me.

For our bitcoin friends who aren’t quite ready to buy a hardware device / wallet, what alternatives would you suggest to them to get them to move their bitcoin off an exchange? There has to be a middle-ground / baby step approach they can take that is better than leaving their stack on an exchange. Simple wallets on their phone…?

1) When (historically) did surveillance of its citizens (movement, financial transactions, communications) become a perceived legitimate right of the American government?

2) Why is it assumed this is a legitimate right? (I.e., that a "good citizen" should be okay with their daily financial activity, for example, being monitored by the government?)

OMG we need polls where you have to pay like 100 sats (or whatever) to vote.

This will literally correct a major problem that skews polls on social media.

I mention because I’m about to release another Meme soon, but it’s only 30 seconds, and was intended as a part of a larger project (about 2 minutes). I wanted to poll people on whether I should move into the next project or see the one I’m about to drop to its next form.

Polls on #Nostr could be really interesting and far more useful (some degree of skin in the game) than normal social polls. 🤔

IMO There should be an option to enable when we set a zip. So like you can choose the amount of sats and than flag or not the option to make this zap visible just to who receive it, or visible for all, or completely anonymous.

That said I like the Shaka and all but it's the zaps that tell me everything I need to know because that's straight-up skin in the game. Better than any algo could inform me of anything.

Up until a few weeks ago I thought Twitter would be the one channel I’d hang on to, I’m not bandwagoning here as I know others are doing the same but I just nuked my twitter account. I don’t need it anymore #nostr is that much better! If it falls apart so be it but for now…
