There are competitions :) I’ve only won my state contest once in 2012, otherwise I’ve competed in a lot of them in the northwest of the u.s. I once placed rather well (usually top 5) but as the next gen of kids got into the hobby and I started adulting I got left behind rather quickly 😂 
I’ve been playing with yo-yos since 2003, so 21 year at this point 😅

The video tutorial covers string tension when it comes to yo-yo’s and how to adjust it.
This twisting up is caused by excessive tension in the string. Take the string off your hand, let it hang below the yo-yo, and let it untwist itself until it doesn’t spin in either direction. At that point it will have neutral tension and will no longer exert torque on the yo-yo, causing it to tilt. Every time you catch and throw the yo-yo you add one half twist to the string. So after a few throws you’ve naturally added enough twist to the string that it’s built up torque will affect the yo-yo.

It can take a while to sell yo-yos 😅 that pure would probably sell quick tho 🤔 I’ve been thinking of attempting to sell off my pokemon cards for the same reason but that market died after 2021 😅
