The poor UX of self custody is real and it will push people towards ETFs and exchanges until it improves.

This guy is just expressing the opinion held by most people who aren't hardcore bitcoin enthusiasts.

All big tech companies seem to have horrible APIs. Just authenticating seems to require an elaborate dance.

I was thinking maybe something like this from the terminal, and possibly using other relays you've posted to as well:

echo '["REQ", "followers", {"authors": ["60d53675f07dee9e7d77910efa44682d87cb532313ba66b8f4449d649172296b"], "kinds": [3]}]' | websocat wss://relay.damus.io

This is just using NIPs 1 and 2 along with websocat:

https://github.com/vi/websocat

https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/

There's websocat which you could use to request all your kind 3 events from a given server. It's wouldn't be very user friendly but I believe it would work.

Call nostr support.

Just kidding, what happens if you log in using a different client? Your follows should be published to multiple relays, although hopefully Damus didn't republish your truncated list.

Can someone explain these memes to me?

Finally we can buy paper Bitcoin with permission from these companies. Does this mean we're ESG compliant too?

Yeah I forgot about the hardware itself.

For some HW devices it's possible to extract the seed from it, so without a pass phrase you have multiple ways of being owned (HW compromised, or paper / metal backup stolen).

Chants about self sovereignty are often elitist and naive. We live in a society with division of labor (for good reason), so the question is often who is worthy of trust rather than whether we should trust anyone at all.

Use a very simple pass phrase that you memorize and store in a password manager. You can call it a single point of failure, but that's hardly an issue if the chance of failure is close to zero for the wallet owner.

On the other hand no pass phrase leads to a very significant single point of failure in your seed phrase.

Can somebody load the Epstein documents into an LLM for easy querying?

Intergrate bitcoin / lightning payment into the main "$" screen. Currently it's somewhat hidden and requires several taps to find it.
