i have discovered a nice power saving trick with my multi-monitor setup

i have a small 16" primary below, and two 27" 2k displays above left and right, the one below is 144hz and i use it for games, lets me get nice frame rates, and is small for reducing the impact of it distracting me to shitpost on nostr

all of the monitors are set to do "dynamic contast" so when all the pixels are black, the two upper displays turn off the backlight, and if the mouse moves there, they light up dimly, and blink back out if the mouse leaves again shortly after that

these displays use about 50W of power when they are lit up fully, so when i'm gaming or shitposting that's 100W not burning, plus they don't distract me so much

just realised i could improve that further by having the taskbar actually hide on the main at the bottom and minimising all the windows on the display so it dims the light right down

honestly though, one thing that has come out of this is that i probably would prefer 4 of these 16" displays, i prefer the fast frame rate better, and they are more easy to pack and move... they don't have any kind of mounting mechanism though, unfortunately, but two of these and a laptop with dual displayport USB-c outputs would be pretty sweet too

the particular model of this thing is Arzopa Game display, the reviews of prior versions of it focus on the flimsy stand... this one has a nice one-side aluminium fold-out A frame support behind, it's perfectly stable, more stable than my big main displays when i'm typing manically

TLDR

How much power are you saving?

Madeira has everything, so I’ll allow Mimosa

You know what scratch that, Mimosa dosent do justice to beautiful place

No I don’t have anymore pictures of this house.

I’ve seen a reciprocal log roof that doesn’t require a post in the middle either and it looks stable too.

But this setup is crazy

So you think that money is the root of all evil… have you ever asked what is the root of money?

nostr:npub16eumpaxffppswucpeysysrya9uk39j06d5gr2tsnf6cupq3f4jdqyft6jc is in bees and honey business, maybe can help you with your questions.

It looked too easy, but when you start doing it it’s a different ball game.

He didn’t mention anything about the byproducts but I’m guessing its from the total business, so maybe wax and royal jelly is included

I saw a video recently and this guy started with $500 and with one or two hives and it took him couple of years to start making profits and now he makes close to 500k 👀

It seemed too easy in the video but he said it is doable and the profit margins are good too

How does USD enter into this protocol?

I know that you can send sats to lightning and from there you can send to a mint to get some ecash but, I don’t understand the on and off ramp of usd.

The devices that the dog will try to knock out of service will be the security cameras, but if the cameras have onboard storage it should still record, not sure what else it will try and target

This response is based on US license info:

For the basic entry level license, many local clubs will do a 6-8 hour cram session class with the test at the end of the day.

The entry level test is often successfully taken by boy & girl scouts around 10 years old. The 2nd level is comparable to the first in difficulty but also covers HF spectrum rules and operations. The highest level will likely require more study but you can get around to that at your leisure. You get almost all of the privileges with the 2nd level. For people capable of understanding bitcoin & self storage etc, these test are not difficult but you will need adequate exposure to the material to familiarize yourself with the concepts. For most people, I recommend going for the 2nd level license (general class license). The tests must be taken and passed in order to advance to the 2nd & 3rd level licenses.

The tests are multiple choice and the questions are public. The following are the resources I currently recommend to get prepared.

Ham Radio License Test Preparation:

1. Use HamStudy.org: HamStudy is a free website that provides practice tests for all ham radio licenses. It can help individuals prepare for their exams and find online or in-person test sessions. www.hamstudy.org

2. Check Out W4EEY on YouTube: W4EEY on YouTube offers excellent ham radio tutorials. He has playlists covering all ham radio license levels and occasionally conducts live classes. This resource can be valuable for learning ham radio concepts. Here are the playlists for the various licenses:

• Tech Playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ_9BZQ8gpziUWPBT3rOvSV6MCCeCaiK0

• General Playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ_9BZQ8gpziv2a26B_IoQ1RbXbIqieP2

• Extra Playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ_9BZQ8gpzh7NC1WVKwCCmOTULSj1f93

3. Explore ARRL and Local Clubs: The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) website can help individuals find local ham radio clubs. These clubs often have information about local repeaters, club meetings, and ham radio "nets" (radio meetups). It's a good way to connect with other ham radio enthusiasts in your area. Wtf 😳

It’s not like that. nostr:note1l7cru9tm5zxx6r7znx2xk9ehn7q32q7hg0d4yl4ufdraaspqkcesls67hv

I start with basics, I mean if people don’t what money is then it’s a lost cause, so I talk about the origins of money. And once it clicks in, people usually see what is the difference between the current money, its flaws and the alternative that is bitcoin which is sound money.

Of course you have to talk about debasement by the banks and inflation.

I’ve not delved a lot into socialist economic policies, I’ve been reading about them recently as I sometimes lock heads with desi comrades about why sound money can fix a lot of issues we currently have.

You can save as much as you want, Keynes will make sure that through debasement the savings will be of no use after a few years, if you’re still in the system that they control

Really good points on why smaller states can work and prosper with better rights instead of being tied to a monopoly of a state. nostr:note18xcct89r9r8tm9l8u2tjkx9kn0tz4gyh82hrnqkw38rss474f2sqra3rnp
