No they're sent from the users own account to himself but you could use a platform nsec instead (env) which I don't use

Sounds like not cloned before fetched, it needs clone/fetch/push. Your source is GitHub, right ? You can also use the UI batch/import (button new). Send DM on TG to @arbadacarba with more info if persists since it works for me from different accounts
You can open the info above the files and see where it was found, so far it's pretty newbie 👾💜 
Just published code for this on Github and then was very easily able to clone to gittr... very cool... Where's the data actually stored?

It's on grasp gitservers like git.gittr.space. When you open a repo it clones from the grasp servers if not already available. So you can accumulate all existing repos from sources like GitHub, own/gitservers, codeberg and announce their existence "on nostr" so they're visible from every nostr git client 💥
The UI on mobile for gittr.space has been dramatically improved and its Soo fast now!
On top it supports the C0 draft for code-snippet sharing. 
Not anylonger but it was certainly a fight. Made a PR on the optional changes back to gitnostr and a repo on snippets with which stuff got better to handle. And serious doku, not the unuseful kind but actually helpful 🐈⬛
