I threw away my Trezor Safe 3 due to customs clearance issues in Cambodia.
I ordered it (Trezor Safe 3: $79, Bumper: $10) during a promotional period with free delivery via DHL. It arrived in Phnom Penh today, and DHL informed me that I had to personally handle the clearance because it's considered a special item. DHL charged $16.5 to issue the required documents.
Upon reaching the customs office, I had to pay an additional $20 to hire an agent due to corruption among government officers. The agent assisted in navigating the complex document procedures that would have taken me at least a day to complete independently.
The agent took me to meet an officer who initially disapproved of releasing the item, citing its unregulated nature in the realm of Crypto. After explaining for about 20 minutes, the officer eventually approved the release.
However, the calculated taxes amounted to around $80, with additional charges of $120 to be given to the officer. Surprised by the total costs, I decided to abandon the process.
Reassessing the expenses:
1. Trezor Safe 3: $79
2. Bumper: $10
3. DHL: $16.50
4. Tax: $80
5. Agency: $20
6. Officer: $120
The total comes to around $325.5.
