I think the main thing holding people back is that you need some broad acquaintance with a bunch of things to even gain a foothold toward understanding BTC. This includes: fiat creation, treasury debt, Keynesian & Austrian economics, coding, & public key encryption.
I was lucky enough to have at least some understanding of all these things before I saw Andreas Antonopoulos appear on the Joe Rogan Experience, so I was able to connect the dots immediately.

A related piece of advice: If you partner with a known cheat (collaborating on a project, appearing on their podcast, whatever) because they can help you in the short-term, some of your long-term allies that have been cheated by that person will abandon you. You likely won’t be informed why these key people have dropped out of your life and will no longer assist your work.
I’m on here largely because you and nostr:npub1s05p3ha7en49dv8429tkk07nnfa9pcwczkf5x5qrdraqshxdje9sq6eyhe have glowingly praised NOSTR in your podcasts. There’s so much potential here but it’s so hard to gain traction. And I suspect it’s about 100x more difficult for a pleb to interact meaningfully on NOSTR. I’ve been persistently on here almost every day but I often feel like I’m shouting into the void.

We all need to do our part to fight against shitty algorithms, and the publishers who’ll sink to any depth to take advantage. Whenever I see a headline like “This Asian city has just been named the #1 place for digital nomads,” or “Why Lindsay Buckingham hated this band member,” I always block that news source. Publishers who embrace enshittification of the Internet deserve to be shunned, even if their actual content is worthwhile.

I do everything possible to connect and engage but if you’re a pleb your chances of gaining a following here are near zilch. The people with big followings on Twitter have no idea how hard it is to bootstrap yourself on NOSTR if you aren’t already well-known.
