Gotta hand it to Jack. Founding the most succesful social media company, and taking its demise in his stride while building better more open social media.

So there is impact, even if small. Just trying to guage the severity.

If part of the validation process is to index over side-chains, then it becomes unacceptable IMO.

If validation stays 100% on the Bitcoin blockchain, and increases validation complexity (and time) with a small and predictable amount, OK.

I could have misinterpreted it.

IMHO the success of Bitcoin depends largely on cheap full nodes without additional complexity.

Having extra functionality that only poses risks for opt-in users is no biggie as long as the risk and complexity doesn't spill over to those who choose not to opt in.

I still don’t know how I feel about it, but I think it’s an important topic

My biggest concern is that Bitcoin full nodes will become more complex and need to validate against external side-chains too, thus require more data.

As it is, the steady blockchain growth-rate makes full-node storage capacity predictable.

This removes that predictability.

Love it when authoritarians go all-in. Means their end is near.

Being inoffensive means being perceived weaker than those whom you fear offending.

If those who you fear offending have less than altruistic intentions towards you, can you afford being perceived as weak?

The West was built upon not giving a damn about offending.

It's being broken down by internal guilt and trying to be inoffensive.

Imagine being speech policed on a platform that has no KYC. Just annoying.

Now imagine being speech policed on a platform with KYC.

Real world consequences for speech not directed at the offended party.

This is why privacy matters.

Not caring about offending people you don't know has nothing to do with masculinity. At worst it could be called slightly autistic. But let's face it, if everyone had to take everyone else's feelings into account on the internet, no-one would use it.

Not caring is an act of self defense while using a communication medium not entirely suited for inter-personal communication.

When left alone, people naturally want to get along, and gang up against authoritarians.
