I'm tempted to laugh at him, but he knows his priorities, and I respect that.

I get track days and racing.

I get sim racing.

I don't get this. It seems like the worst of both worlds. 😁

Now that I've seen it:

1) it's even more glorit than I'd dared hope!

2) tbh, I'm reconsidering if this is the best way to impress mom.

I don't want to be happy, I want to live a life that makes me happy. No counterproductive, misguided, unintended consequences riddled shortcuts.

Reminds me of a saying of mine:

A fool will work hard for nothing,

And a lazy man won't work hard for anything.

True.

This seems to assume that, among other things, dumpers are rational actors with a uniform set of priorities. Not convinced.

That said, lots of people would be well served by acknowledging that they need to do better.

Got to say, seeing Mike Tyson's ass was not on my 2024 Bing card πŸ˜‚

I often preempt the sharing of unpopular opinions, beliefs, etc. with normies with "I'm a bad person so..."

And granted it makes it a bit easier for them to dismiss what I have to say, but it also makes it impossible for them to shame me or guilt me into going alone with... whatever 😁

I too look forward to when the question switches from "when?" to "where?"

Maybe the sign will be for you if you ever start reconsidering? But I know what you mean, there are things I hope to eventually be able to justify, and things I hope I never justify πŸ˜‚

I've never seen someone, thought to myself "what are they doing?", and only then realized that they were walking. We all do it about the same, and within a factor of two or so, almost all reasonably fit and healthy people seem to be comparably capable.

I get the impression that most people have a similar perspective on thinking given how often you hear people say things like "they must be bad, stupid, or terribly misinformed to think that", "I did it so what's their excuse", or "there's no way they did that given that I couldn't".

I assume that thinking is more like modes of transportation where for instance, one person might have a bike, and an other might have a delivery truck, and as a result, depending on traffic patterns and available time, an assigned task could be trivially easy or literally impossible depending on the available transportation.

And again like with transportation, most people seem to have roughly the same options available to them, assume that everyone else also has those options, and profoundly, fundamentally can't understand what it is to have any of the less common options that don't typically have human interest stories written about them.

I agree, but I'm not sure what to πŸ€”

The other day I explained to my wife how we're all getting girlfriends, it went better than I'd expected! πŸ˜‚

To be clear, I'm all for some πŸ™‚

I'm over how little personally/intellectual diversity that there tends to be in modern TV/movies, and it sounds like there is some which is nice, but it isn't obviously reflected in the poster, so if that's all I was going on...

That said, I have fairly particular taste, and don't know if it's refined, or just annoyingly picky 😁
