I just read the whole Nostr NIP spec.

I feel really dumb for not doing that earlier and just assuming how things worked from the 30 second tl;dr on event objects.

Its 4 total, but its just two for each person. So imagine you’re following someones transactions onchain. You see them spend an to a single output. And then a while later they spend that to another output. Looks like maybe they bought something or more likely, they were just shuffling money between wallets. Unbeknownst to you, they no longer control those funds. Their funds are in a completely unrelated utxo.

Cool thing is it’s indistinguishable from a normal tx. Doesnt stand out the way a coinjoin does. It just literally looks like a normal tx.

So that means any normal tx could be a coinswap. You have no way to know.

#[0] I am unable to pay Wallet of Satoshi Lightning addresses in user profiles using Wallet of Satoshi. Says it’s an invalid invoice, but copying and pasting the address works. Same problem using BlueWallet. I know this was working in an earlier build, so something must have changed in the way the address is carried over from the profile tipping link.

This creates an ecosystem that is much harder to associate with the identity of random events online. You can't simply query a relay for all messages from a user. You have to download everything and do the work.

lol at people still trying to make proof of keys a thing, Celsius/FTX/BlockFi/Gemini Earn did more to educate users on custodial risk than all proof of keys days combined

Nostr will do to social media what email did to the post office.

I still miss Twitter’s feed , which shows posts from friends-of-friends and serves as a nice discovery mechanism somehow, but I know nostr clients will get there

My follow count on Nostr is more volatile than the bitcoin price.

A lot of the devs and many OGs pledged #NostrNovember to not enter Twitter. It was very cool indeed. We should do that more often!

Anyone else not really missing Twitter all that much? As more and more of our friends from Twitter use Nostr, begin to see it's potential, see that we're building, and see how fast developers are iterating, the need for Twitter is going to shrink completely.
