Day 66: #grownostr initiative
Its very humid right now. My weather app says 100% humidity. I love the way the dew on the dill plants look in the garden this morning.

Day 65: #grownostr initiative
I found a nice little surprise behind the cucumber trellis this morning...a bunch of Black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia hirta.) Not only are they pretty, hopefully they will attract some pollinators.

Thanks. It originally started out low to the ground and looked like a lamb's ear. But after it started shooting up, i thought i might have misidentified it
Day 64: #grownostr initiative
I only had 1 egg this morning and 1 cherry hot pepper. Nevertheless seems like a good scramble if you ask me.

Childhood memories are the best. Thanks for sharing it with me. I will always imagine two kids jousting with mullein spears!
Day 63: #grownostr initiative
I may have misidentified this as a Lamb's Ear (Stachys byzantina) several weeks ago when i transplanted it from the side of the road to one of my gardens. After seeing the folliage rosette it could be a Mullein (Verbascum thapsus). I may have to wait to see the flower color ro know for sure. Purple = Lamb's Ear, Yellow = Mullein.

The New Deal:
Emergency Banking Act: The New Deal began with the Emergency Banking Act in 1933, which aimed to stabilize the banking system by closing insolvent banks and reopening sound ones. This helped restore public confidence in the banking system.
Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC): The CCC provided employment for young men in conservation projects such as reforestation, soil conservation, and park development. It provided them with basic needs like food, shelter, and a small wage.
Works Progress Administration (WPA): The WPA was one of the most significant New Deal agencies. It created jobs for millions of unemployed people by undertaking public works projects, including the construction of roads, buildings, and bridges. The WPA also funded projects in the arts, employing artists, writers, and musicians.
Social Security Act: The Social Security Act of 1935 established a system of social insurance to provide economic security for retired workers, the unemployed, and those with disabilities. It included the creation of the Social Security Administration and the establishment of a national pension fund.
National Labor Relations Act (Wagner Act): The Wagner Act protected the rights of workers to join labor unions and engage in collective bargaining. It also established the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to oversee labor disputes and unfair labor practices.
Rural Electrification Administration (REA): The REA aimed to bring electricity to rural areas of the country by providing loans for the construction of power plants and electric cooperatives. This initiative helped improve the quality of life for rural communities.
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC): The SEC was created to regulate the stock market and protect investors from fraudulent practices. It implemented rules and regulations to ensure transparency and stability in the financial markets.
Day 62: #grownostr initiative
We haven't even started picking the majority of our garden yet and our counter is already full of vegetables. 😳 I picked a couple of handfuls of green beans, another handful of peppers, squash and cucumbers.

It was exciting to see an eggplant growing. I've never grown eggplant before.

First okra!
Thank you. I DM'd you.
I totally agree. I would like to have both. Two is one, one is none.
I'm still a sucker for an actual book or magazine. I love turning real pages.
Day 61: #grownostr initiative
Our internet service has not been working great so last night I went OG internet (see image below.)

Garden News
There was good and bad news in the garden today. The good news: there is some color to the Super Sweet 100's. The bad news: it appears the Cherokee Purple's have Blossom End Rot. The other varieties seem okay. Also we received heavy rain and wind and nearly all the pepper plants were laying on their sides.

Day 59: #grownostr initiative
I am getting ready to change out the serpentine belt on my truck. Ive never done it before, but it should be pretty straightforward. Other than being in a parking lot, its usually cold and/or raining when i have to do vehicle repairs so I'm pretty excited about that. Ive learned a lesson: carry an extra belt. Its fairly cheap and could save a lot of time. Not to mention if you were on an interstate in the middle of nowhere!

Day 58: #grownostr initiative
Another long day at the J.O.B. but i was able to take a pic of my Parsley that is bolting. I guess i will be drying some herbs this weekend.

Day 57: #grownostr initiative
I hope everyone had a fantastic day. It was a long one for me. Good night all!
Day 56: #grownostr initiative
It finally rained and gave my garden some much needed pure water. The rain water contains nitrate, the most bio-available form of nitrogen and is slightly acidic with a pH range of 5.5-6.5--perfect for most plants. Contrast that with the alkaline water that comes out of our taps with a pH of 8.5 and a lot of chemicals and salts.
Note to self: get water storage containers up to collect rainwater before next year's garden.

Day 55: #grownostr initiative
I hope everyone had a perfect day. I read about the zombie-ant fungus today (Ophiocordyceps unilateralis). If you haven't read about it nor seen it, do yourself a favor and search for it. 🤯

Wow. What a gorgeous, dreamy photo.
