昔吾夢為蝴蝶，翩翩然栩栩乎忘言矣。既覺，而不知周之夢為蝶與？抑蝶之夢為周與？由是知物我兩忘，天地一指。然後千載行世，萬象入心。

觀夫世界之大，萬民之勤，奔波者如蟻，聚散如雲。古者鑿井而飲，耕田而食；今者據屏而活，交易無形，然所苦者未減一毫。人之憂患，非饑渴也，乃心之無所寄也。

夫今之人，處巨城之中，樓層百丈，窗明几淨，器用日新。然其心也，愈幽愈逼，若墜冰谷。求快則急，急則亂，亂則惑。惑中設名曰「進步」，不知其實遠道而反耳。

嘗見兒童嬉於虛境，舉目皆幻；老者坐於室中，寂寂若石。舊時父子訓誨之樂、鄰里相聞之情，今皆化為聲光之幻、數據之流。是何也？世變而心不變，故迷也。

然問吾：「此世可憂乎？」吾曰：「憂與不憂，皆人自造。」日升則照，月落則息，草木無懷，鳥獸無爭，獨人爾爾。若夫能與物化，知魚之樂，知風之閒，雖處鬧市，亦若林泉。

天地無情，不為善者贊，不為惡者罰。其運也如輪，如機，無端無始。昔日聖人乘道以游，不以世為用，不以物為役，故其心閒，其神安，其壽長，而非求之也。

今之人則異。講仁者利己，說義者爭名，著書者欲售，談道者為榮。空言盈耳，實踐無一。故天下學多而明少，器博而心陋。譬如畫餅充飢，愈畫愈餓。

或有問我：「何以自處？」吾笑而答曰：「以無所處為處。」若水之行地，不逆不止，遇石則轉，遇谷則流，不問所終，故無所累。是以吾處俗世而不染，聽喧鬧而不聾，觀萬變而不驚。

蓋人生如幻，世道如夢。夢中毋需執夢，幻中毋需驅幻。知其為夢，乃得其真。若能觀一葉而知秋，聞一聲而通神，則縱使洪水滔天，萬象崩塌，汝心如鐵，如松，不動不搖。

末矣。吾坐於無何有之鄉，仰觀星斗，俯察眾生，筆隨雲走，意隨風游，聊寄此文於世間沉睡之人，若有一覺，亦不虛我萬里之行矣。
