Um... starting to think I don't really like these European values. I've actually been thinking about this in general, so interesting to see she phrased it like this.
Gnosticism does not originate with Christianity or any Abrahamic system. Gnosticism is not Christian, though there were some Gnostics who wanted to participate in Jesus worship rituals.
Gnosis is no part of the Christian tradition because Gnosis has a definition and Christians pointedly reject all things that fall under it. Very vehemently.
Please welcome Spring - the nostr browser.
This is the first public Android release, we're submitting to the Play Store, but an APK is ready for you to try: https://github.com/nostrband/nostr-universe/releases/download/v0.1.0/spring-nostr-browser-v0.1.0.apk
The app is open source: https://github.com/nostrband/nostr-universe/
We believe this category of a Nostr-specific browser is a very powerful tool for all the nostriches and bitcoiners. It takes the experience of using Nostr micro-apps to the next level, and should help accelerate the adoption of non-social Nostr use cases.
Some screenshots are here:
If you hesitate to paste your nsec into the app, we totally get it - just use your (or someone else's) npub to log in and look around. However, if you do add your real keys - those are handled by a separate library, stored in an encrypted form and protected by the Android keystore, inaccessible to any JS code, immune to XSS or app-level bugs.
What you can do today:
- add nsec keys or npubs, switch between keys
- browse various interesting events on the homepage - trending stuff, suggested profiles, big zaps, highlights, long posts, live streams, nostr web apps
- open any event in any web app that supports this event kind and has been published on nostr using NIP-89
- open/close/hide the browser tabs, grouped by app/domain
- log in inside the opened apps as if you have the 'browser extension' (nip-07 interface injected into tabs)
- pin apps/tabs to your app "drawer" for fast access
- access your contact list at the search page, profiles sorted by recently-accessed first
- search through profiles, notes and long posts
- tab menu - if there is an event-id/npub in the url of the opened tab, you can zap the event, or open with another app from the menu (more coming soon)
- context menu - if you long-tap on a link with event-id/npub in the url, you can zap/open-with from the context menu
- nostr: links clicked inside a tab are handled by showing a list of apps that support this event (NIP-89)
- long-tap on a text selection with event-id/npub to open the context menu to zap/open-with
- paste a url to the search bar to open it in a new tab
- paste an event-id/npub into the search bar to open it in a new tab
IMPORTANT: nostr apps running inside the browser tabs can sign events and decrypt private messages without a confirmation screen and your explicit permission - do not use apps you don't trust until we implement proper app permission management.
What is coming:
- key access permission management
- reordering of pins in the app drawer
- more event kinds on the homepage
- search for more event kinds
- tab switcher screen
- NWC to inject WebLN into tabs
- custom feeds on the home screen
- custom tab/context menu items
- DVMs for translation, transcription etc
- and much more!
What do you think?
Thank you! Much need!
Can somebody tell me what client/relay the communities thing with the /reddit format is called? How do I access it from desktop?
Are you SERIOUS right now?!
The #gnosticism of it all.
Ayn Rand: the unknowing secular Gnostic who accidentally smuggled high fidelity gnosis into the culture.

This guy claims to be able to see the "simulation code" running through a laser's light while on DMT.

First off, trust only in your *Self* when it comes to these things. So, unless you're a fairly un-impressionable person, you do the experiment yourself, and you see code or digits with your own DMT-altered eyes, don't have "faith" and don't run and trust guys like this. He's clearly got the Zillennial Jesus gimmick going on and is trying to build or entertain a following.
Still, while this guy may or may not be playing, this is a good example of the character of #Gnosticism.
#Gnostics do not inherent a culture of repetitive study or adherence to sacred books from Judaism - namely because it is not Jewish (or Christian) in origin. Instead, Gnostic sects tended to view holy books as spiritual journals and were willing both to incorporate texts from other traditions into their personal search for #Gnosis when it made sense and to write their own spiritual journals as they sought to induce a #personal #experience of the #divine.
The Early CE Gnostics typically liked to share and exchange meeting notes on how to deal with the core predicament of existence in this world rather than to dictate.
Throwing this post on gnosticism into the RSS feed (hopefully) with this comment.

I gave it a good thought. And it's extencive.
Currently with the traditional social media the platform is the gatekeeper for the #Ads. #Advertisers pay the platform to display ads and 'trust' that they display the ads to it's users with a specific profile. - Platforms ( X / Facebook / Insta / YouTube ) are in control. - User is the product.
Moneyflow goes like this:
Advertiser ----> Platform
On nostr this shifts completely because the user is in control. The user decides which relays they connect to and which client they use. There are 3 (or more) parties involved who decide which ads the user gets to see.
1) The user himself
2) The Relay the user connects to (Relays will compete with each other in the future)
3) The client the user uses to connect to the relays. (Clients will compete with each other)
4) Maybe profilebuilders (Profile builders will compete with each other in the future)
And the advertiser? They should pay all those parties in a good proportion. (Zaps & SATs)
So #nostr will enable us to be paid to see ads from advertisers.
And relays serving those ads and clients displaying those ads also should benefit from this.
This incentives Advertisers to have a good profile of the user they want to target the ad and to add value to the life of the user seeing the ad, or else the user blocks the advertiser.
There will be "advertiser profile builders" in the future competing as well and getting a part of the money the advertiser pays as well.
Money flow goes like this:
Advertiser ---> User
Advertiser ---> Relay
Advertiser ---> Client
Advertiser ---> Profile Builder
But the main part:
User is in full-control of these though the client he uses and the relays he's connecting to and the profile builder he's using. So advertisements wil be better than on traditional social media and you get paid to see them.
Just my 21 sats on this topic.
Only the relays, clients, and profile builders would have any need to be involved as they would own the digital real estate and there's no reason for all 3 to be a packaged into a centralized system. They can all be different #advertising channels at different levels of the network.
A boosted message is kind of like an #advertisement on a relay already.
There's plenty of space on the UI of clients for each (that wants) to come up with their own ad layouts, rates, rotations, qualifications, and targeting parameters. Clients will be/already are different companies and organizations anyway.
Profile builders can also come up with their own advertising setups as well.
I don't know why I would pay a user to view content/ ads. That is not a service and the fact that I am paying them obliterates the concept of intent. The point of paying for the ad is for the publisher to place it somewhere that is highly visible to an audience with intent/interest enough engage further. Hence, the payment being on the click.
The better the placement - the higher the relevance of the ad to the audience - the more clicks the ad gets and the more money the platform will get from the #advertiser who is paying for them. That's is how the PPC business model generally works. It does not pay to serve irrelevant ads.
Paying a user to view #ads is just paying a rando to view ads. It's devoid of intent - there is no targeting or point in it. It just becomes about a user siphoning money out of businesses, not engaging with the product, service, event, community, etc... being advertised. It's a pit.
Ads don't exist just to be seen. They exist to present something new and of interest to people who already care about that thing in some capacity. Its about building up community with people who like a thing and want that thing to continue to exist because it adds value to their living experience.
Sorry. I didn't mean to say that 4 times.
Truth is truth and reason is reason regardless of the one speaking it. There is nothing to square.
Maybe I'm stupid or something, but I'm thinking this looks a little bit more luxurious than the White House. I don't find the "old" aesthetic very pleasing.
I disagree.
A workplace is more productive and enjoys better culture when everyone is in-office. You can find the people you need to talk to immediately. You can actually enjoy and have community in the space that you spend the majority of your meaningful waking hours.
Work is not supposed to be just a thing you do to make money. If that's you're way of seeing it, you're either in the wrong field or have the wrong orientation toward life.
Work is missional. First, in your pursuit of personal goals if the work itself is not ideal. Second, in itself as a manifestation of a vision once one becomes self-employed or committed to an enterprise usually (hopefully) later in career.
