Matcha is very different in taste, more bitter. But it depend how you drink your coffee. Personally it was pure black, no milk no sugar, so already bitter than for most. Also I drink green tea and matcha for a long time too, so the taste wasn't a problem. But I know some ppl that can't drink matcha because of it. Some dates or dried fruits can help if it's an issue for you.

For the matcha itself, I try to stay away for cheap ones. It's a powder so the pollutants tend to be very concentrated and most, if not all, the cheap ones are made with pesticide or stuff. So far I'm using Sevenhills Wholefoods brand. Not too expensive, organic, single ingredient and vegan (i personally don't care but for some ppl it's important). Price can look high compared to coffee, but usually the serving will be 1 or max 2 grams of powder for a 2 ounces cup. So, around 15$ for 50 servings.

Nutritionally there is no huge differences, a little more calories and carbs for matcha, but you'll tend to drink less quantity than coffee. Matcha have more than double the amount of caffeine compare to coffee. But again, a serving is 2-3 times less in quantity, it's equivalent imho. So don't drink it too late in the day if you want a good sleep ;)

The "caffeine kick" will be different too. Quicker with coffee, while matcha is a slower pace, less noticeable.

To prepare it, it's pretty easy. Just put 1-2 grams in a small cup, add just a little hot water (85°C), and mix both with a whisk until you have some foam, than add the rest of the water. I like to make it a little ceremony in my day. Like in this video :

Hope you'll enjoy it. After my month without coffee, I'll cycle coffee/cocoa/green tea/matcha to have the full spectrum of antioxidant & minerals (1-2 weeks each or something).

No doing it for health reason, will probably come back to it in few weeks. But I like trying things. 1 week without coffee so far and it's pretty easy.

Plus hot cocoa is a banger. Will probably cycle coffee/cocoa/matcha in the future, like 1 month each or something.

5th day without coffee. So far so good.

Goal is at least 1 month without it. Maybe more.

Will be a first in the last 20 years.

Was a coffee addict 20 to 10 years prior (7 or 8 cups/day), decreased naturally over time and for the last 2 years was just at 1 or 2 cups/day.

Replacing it with hot cocoa or matcha tea.
