Camino Frances | Day 19
Mansilla de las Mulas to Leon
After the previous night it was nice to finally have a hotel room with A/C. I splurged and got a massage plus an hour and a half in the hotel spa circuit.

What was their reasoning for doing this?
I have some LED light bulbs in my house that I can change the color to red. Does this have the same effect or do they need to be incandescent?

Camino Frances | Day 18
Sahagun to Mansilla de las Mulas
Apparently I didn't take many pictures on this day. I do remember it being long and hot though. I distinctly remember laying in my top bunk in the alburgue trying to go to bed. I rolled over to get more comfortable and realized I was laying in a puddle of my own sweat. I immediately took out my phone and booked a hotel in Leon for the next day. If you're gonna be in a big city you might as well take advantage of it.

I just laughed my way through all of these. I'm not even sure I would have noticed them if I hadn't been led to that place in my mind by this post.
Of these three I prefer #2. Although pretty basic it is easy on the eyes. I think the other 2 could work with a little more of a quaint/homey vibe. But what do I know.
Actually that was a huge confidence booster! Hahaha!!!
Wow....that is exactly how I always imagined they looked!
The previous post was supposed to say Day 17, but alas I can not change it.
Yes, do they need a janitor?

Camino Frances | Day 1
Calzadilla de la Cueza to Sahagun
Sahagun is the official half way point to Santiago.
The little hobbit holes in the hill sides are used for storing wine.

Camino Frances | Day 16
Poblacion de Campos to Calzadilla de la Cueza
The Meseta, part of the Camino Frances that many people skip due to long stretches in the heat without much shade. There is more distance between towns, so you don't get as many coffee breaks, and it is much more important to make sure you have pleny of water with you. After reading all of the descriptions of the Meseta I honestly didn't think it sounded that bad. There is definitely value in walking it, especially if you've come this far, but it wasn't my favorite. It was indeed hot, shade was hard to come by, but you could always bring an umbrella, I did not. I think I would have enjoyed it more but I was still dealing with quite a bit of pain from my achilles. Which meant I got to spend more time in the heat because I couldn't walk as fast. I don't remember what town it was now, but I limped in the last 2 km using my hiking sticks as crutches because I wasn't able to put any pressure on my left leg. Fun times.
