Wouldn't argue that about miner fees. 100% of the gift goes to the receiver. The sender just also pays a fee on top, but the fee is not part of the gift.
Looks like it gives a stat for the utxo set. Each utxo is 50 + the size of the scriptPubkey. https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/10426/files
Classic descriptive PR 😅

I'm kinda tired of opening #Amethyst, bring thrown at some random point in the time-line and not knowing whether I have to scroll up or down. Makes me go back to #Twidere, really solid #Mastodon app
Don't know how to say your friend's name? No worries. Sound on!

That's never really gonna work. So many names are common in many languages but have different pronunciations in them.. How are you gonna know what language the name was given in?
Buuurn, well excuse my hyperbole, but even some of yours are
I don't know if it has anything to do with zaps and the monetization aspect, but I notice that I never see comments on Mastodon that I consider spammy, while literally every post in here is filled with them.
It definitely needs a local database. Like, apps get killed to save battery (either by the OS or the user). Phones get reset.
Report: Bitcoin vs the $156 Trillion Global Payments Industry
- "Worldwide adult ownership of financial accounts has risen from 51% in 2011 to 76% in 2021 according to The Global Findex Database 2021, and an estimated 10% of the global population does not have a government-issued ID to open an account."
- "There is roughly 2.34 million bitcoin stored on 20 major exchanges as of June 2023." 500k is held on Coinbase, and 630k BTC is held on Binance.
- "An estimated 70% of users hold bitcoin on exchanges and 80% in mobile or desktop wallets, so there is a significant overlap between the 32.9 million active entities and exchange users."
- "89% of consumers do not engage in payments and hold their bitcoin to make a profit. U.S. consumers are discouraged from spending bitcoin through taxation rules that turn transactions into taxable events."
- "El Salvador’s central bank reported that from January to May 2022, Chivo Wallet processed $52 million in remittances or 1.6% of its total estimated volume of $3.175 billion. This number is relatively high, given how new Bitcoin is to many people."

Amethyst seems to struggle keep track of where in the feed I was. I think a feed app should work on the assumption that users don't want to lose any content. So it should always go back to where it was before. Usually when I open Amethyst it's either 3 days back and I have to scroll up a lot or it's at the top and I have to scroll down.
It's disgusting 🤢
Could use the source code of the #Mastodon web GUI, it's very similar.
#BTCPrague was awesome! Looking forward to next year!
I don't know if this is what the name #Lemmy comes from, but it has some very interesting relation to #Reddit:
If someone sends you a web page, you can reply
- "I already reddit"
- "lemmy read that"
🤔
