An individual or team who fully solves any of the ten challenges will be eligible to receive a bounty of 2 BTC
For transparency: submissions will be shared with external industry experts to help us discern whether submissions meet bounty requirements
HRF will be making decisions in a charitable way for bounty submissions that make a good faith effort to meet the requirements
We will be leaning to the spirit, not the letter, of the law

HRF retains final approval on allocating prize funds
The Bitcoin Bounty Challenge will run until December 31, 2024
Any unclaimed bounties will convert into general operating funding for the HRFâs Bitcoin Development Fund on January 1, 2025

This project was born out of 6 months of field research where HRF staff met with + interviewed a) dissidents and human rights NGO leaders from around the world and b) Bitcoin developers
The goal was to settle on a mix of desired upgrades to Bitcoin that seemed somewhat realistic
We fully expect a handful of these bounties to be claimed by the end of next year
We fully expect the bounties to spark debate, arguments, new ideas, criticism, and other stuff that may indirectly help Bitcoin and Bitcoin users
We *do not expect* all of bounties to be claimed

Remember that sneaky addition to Bidenâs Infrastructure Bill in 2021 that most people forgot about?
Now that Coin Centerâs case was dismissed, on Jan 1, 2024 this law will require anyone receiving crypto / #Bitcoin payments > $10,000 to report to the transaction to the government AND report the personally identifiable information of the sender as wellâŠ
No warrant required.
From Coin Center:
âThe reporting mandate would force Americans using cryptocurrency to share intrusive details about themselves, both with each other and with the federal government. Under the terms of the mandate, everyday senders and receivers of cryptocurrency would be forced to reveal their names, Social Security numbers, home addresses, and other sensitive personal identifying information.
Receivers would then have FIFTEEN DAYS to report all of that information about both parties, along with the details of their transactions, to the federal government.
The 2021 amendmentâs reporting mandate would also require the receivers to maintain records of their transactions and the personal identifying information of senders for five years.â
This is a blatantly unconstitutional move by the Biden Administration.
