Reading Walter Russell's 'The Secret of Light'.
It is nonetheless a very negative signal. He says he feels he should have bought more earlier, but he has also sold some, and now holds only a small position without much enthusiasm to buy in again, given the ETFs are already a thing and the dream of decentralisation has somewhat fizzled out.
This is bothersome, because if Bitcoin had a bright future ahead of it, people like Thiel should be pouring millions into Bitcoin startups, and yet that is nonexistent.
The only possible exciting play in such case is musical chairs, buy and hodl, becore the unspeakable.
It has been 15 years. FBI, scammers, lost coins, custodial ETFs...
What's in it for the honest everyday person?
Now much less convinced in the ideological decentralized future of the computing world he believed in.
"People in the FBI tell me they would much rather have criminals use Bitcoin than $100 bills."
"I'm not sure it's gonna go up that dramatically from here."
"I don't know who else buys it quickly from here."

Thiel saying #Bitcoin co-opted by Blackrock & big institutions. π
It's just a person and their opinion.
I wouldn't even react to it unless it held any merit. π€
Private businesses should hire whomever they see fit. π€
I suspect I'm going to be saying "I told you so" a lot more frequently in the coming years.

I was liaising with John in '21 though. Was Nostr even a thing then?
I was consulting John McAfee back then, and I could have advised him to use it, but I was unaware of it, although to be honest I don't think it would have been ready for it that early.
πunbelievable
People who think software development is just coding -- and not engineering and science and maths and marketing and design and testing -- are about to get a very rude awakening.
And I'm so there for it. π Welcome to Nostr 2024.

Sadly, there may not be any rude awakening as they get plenty of money to stay under the illusion. I have even witnessed theft. I have seen devs in Ethereum drag their feet for years getting $20k a month not delivering any meaningful product to the point where everyone with any dignity, morals and brain leaves early, and the remaining ones steal the pot and delete social channels. Getting VC money you need to build a business, but with crypto money falling from the sky things are really loose, and anyone who isn't a dev is ignored.
Has anyone seen Peter Joseph's "Zeitgeist Requiem"? nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m
How do we get Peter to come to Nostr?
I can't dm him on IG, and he left X a long time ago.
What if we got our own Bitcoin resort in Zanzibar where anyone working on Nostr is always welcome? It's got to be really cheap to do it. nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m
This shot is worthy of a magazine.
A sage is not a good man nor a gentleman nor a saint. A wicked man is always hidden inside a gentleman and a gentleman is always hidden inside a bad man. A sage is absolutely a third type of phenomenon. He is beyond both good and bad; he has no relation to either one. He has entered a totally different dimension where there is no question of good and bad.
