I think there's a portion of the mind that has gotten used to being the product and thus getting content for free on other platforms. The algorithm game has trained us well to use likes and shares but there is nothing like going direct to the source and giving value where values worth. The content here should be creme de la creme because of the ability to skip the need for sponsors, skip the need to develop a huge following.

If by loyal, you mean will stick around because I like it, then yes, but if loyalty means not using anything else, then I'm not. I still get on Facebook on occation as that's where all my old friends and family can be found.

But I barely ever post there.

I post here because I really like the interactions, and the fact that I can get paid for what I write.

At first, I wasn't allowed to work in America, then finally, a year ago, I got my green card approved and was allowed to work, but we traveled so I didn't get on it, and then in the beginning of january I found out I was pregnant and now I have a baby that requiers a lot of my attention, but at least I can come no here, read some fun, funny, or interesting posts, and usually I'm able to at least wrote a post myself at times, though possibly interrupted 😅 But every sat I recieve is a blessing and help to our income as we write our books.

I am an author, so getting paid for my writing even if people aren't buying many of my books yet is really encouraging!

Plus, the community here is amazing! I haven't met anyone from here in person (except my husband) and yet I have lots of friends! 🤗

Most V4V systems are ineffective. Nearly all incentive systems optimize for exploitation, racketeering and rent seeking.

I don’t think anyone ever has been compensated fairly because it’s always been on faulty money and largely faulty incentives as a consequence. A lot of bitcoiners cheerlead meritocracy in this space but I think most of us are in for a rude awakening when stuff starts getting priced correctly. Our saving grace is that we can make up for lost time by taking risk to be early on the network effect, just one man’s opinion GM 🤙

That is the way I approach my engagement on Nostr for sure.

Additionally, I engage for myself rather than the for others. If there’s a topic or idea I wish to address I just do so. If others gain some sort of value from what I do post, then that’s just a bonus.

Which with Nostr takes on a whole new form, given you’ve got a far better ownership model of your content, reach, audience, and revenue

Ideally, every nostr user would run open source software locally that calculates personalized trust metrics. This is why brainstorm is open source: so you can run your own instance and calculate your own personalized trust metrics. No need to trust a third party if you’re willing to put in a little effort.

Realistically, not everyone is a developer, and most users will want someone else to do it for them. Just like most nostr users don’t run personalized relays, and most Bitcoin users don’t run their own full nodes. It doesn’t mean the entire endeavor is a failure. A small fraction of people who actually run their own Bitcoin nodes, with almost everyone having the ability to do so (not just theoretical but practical), is better than the status quo where basically 0% of people have the ability to audit the fiat system, whether in theory or in practice.

So how do we maximize the number of people who actually do calculate their own personalized trust metrics? Answer: we will have to make it as easy and user friendly as possible. And did I say open source? It needs to be open source. The lower the barrier to entry, the healthier the ecosystem.
