You know what’s wild? I’ll pay $8 for a beer that makes me dumber but suddenly become an economist when it’s time to zap a post that made me smarter. We need to talkā€¦šŸ» nostr:naddr1qqgr2wfcxd3kye3kxejrgdr9v4snyq3q4hq5lgadtyy9dhvtszq46dnl0s0xwdddqr7e32rdqqhma8a4xhssxpqqqp65wrmcu96

You didn’t have to call us out like this man. Seriously though why are we wired so idiotically? Sure I’ll buy a $6 coffee at a drive through chain that I hate but man that note that made me use my mind and provided value to me? Better think carefully about my .00000021 zap… our values need realigned dramatically. Guilty here, trying to figure it out.

Haha. I was also calling myself out. I’m guilty as well.

Three things:

- This is the best article I’ve read on nostr.šŸ‘Š

- I spent $5.32 on a coffee day, as since that coffee didn’t add the value this post did, I sent the 5,018 sats. v4v.

- You’re much better writer than me, which means your thinking is clearer than mine, and that’s a bit annoying šŸ˜‰šŸ˜€šŸ‘Š

Keep up the good work!

Good morning šŸ˜€šŸ‘Šā˜•ļø

Today I’m aiming to be kind, useful, and grateful for the chance to coach my oldest kid’s sports team the next 9 months.

This is the best article I’ve read on nostr in the handful of weeks since I’ve been here. It might be worth your time. (I zapped it but for some reason it’s not showing up).

I think this type of post (encouraging zapping sats on Nostr) is sort of addressing the huge U.S. wealth gap, and saying that by people, who are benefitting from their passive income investments, zapping ā€˜creators’ (ie, people with little to no investments) on Nostr, this will help to solve that problem?

… if so …. that seems to be a very limited way. I think it will mainly distinguish those who are good at consistently garnering zaps.

Fair pushback. This isn’t about solving wealth inequality. It’s narrower than that.

Nostr explicitly operates on value for value. No ads. No corporate subsidies. If you consume value and don’t reciprocate, you’re violating the basic social contract of why this protocol exists.

The question is simple…do we actually believe in value for value, or are we just here for censorship resistance while hoping someone else funds the creators we benefit from?

Yes … it would have to be narrower since micropayments aren’t all connected across platforms …

Your comment is conflating a bunch of ideas …

1. Nostr operates as an app funded by OpenSats donations (to pay coders and etc.)

2. Users of the app are choosing a social media that is an alternative to centralized, data-selling, algorithm ones.

The types of users of social media ….

1. very ambitious people who want to make money via a skill

2. people who are okay with having a more typical job and using social media for fun - sometimes this means only browsing, or some commenting, sometimes this means posting.

so, you’re just referring to the first type of social media user. I don’t really know about that. I’m more of the second type. In that case, I find zaps distracting.

>> while hoping someone else funds the creators we benefit from?<<

I think it’s about … yeah people should be ā€œfundedā€, and everyone could potentially be a creator.

Mostly everyone has hobbies, but often, having a 9 to 5 job will quickly crowd out those hobbies.

you're wrong, I'm not going to zap a note 1 dollar or more,

I normally zap 21 sats or less, I did zap 1 dollar in the past but very rarely do I zap big zaps, I am not here to make anyone rich, the CEO of nostr tried convincing us to zap big amounts regularly instead of little amounts but it didn't work.

If people start zapping big amounts all the time, it's going to cut into their savings, especially in a time when the fiat system keeps us poor, and many won't zap as much. I can zap as much as I want because 21 sats isn't very much.

When nostr has millions of billions of users then those tiny zaps are going to equal a crazy big amount of money but since nostr is small then for some it feels like those tiny zaps are not worth it and they will quit nostr.

People who buy expensive coffee are probably a majority on blue sky, my advice to noatrichs is pay yourself first, and save as much as you can, make ur own coffee and don't be crazy on the zaps.

even if someone zaps 1 sat to me, I value that zap, I don't need big zaps and I'm not here to get rich

Haha
