Those are great but they further enforce/bow to the dominance of the phone number.
Consensus & availability are the two reasons. People want a defacto way to verbally connect to someone and write it on their skin or a napkin and they can assume someone will have that and it can be used to contact them using several form factors. There's also the fact that there's infrastructure to communicate without a smartphone our computer available. Institutions require that people have them to be successful. Job interviews, official business, etc. Not everyone has the privilege of interacting in a digital only world. A skilled tradesman would have constant trouble interfacing with their customers. If a decentralized alternative worked through the phone lines, it would be pretty sweet, or there existed a way to take over control of phone numbers from those entities. I wish we could make them "handles" for another system like keys or dids.
On one hand, that's unprofessional and a shitty outlook to have with people coming to you in good spirit. On the other, the religious bitcoin platitudes that flood every user's feed on their first test is the ultimate boner shrinker and will hold back the platform. Most of you disagree because you're the problem lol. People think it's not a problem because later on it will be big enough and impressive enough that the bitcoin single focus will not be around. However, I've not seen any sign of this, especially since you'll see things on a lot of nostr services like "by bitcoiners for bitcoiners" and other stuff. Note that other protocols that focus on a *eclectic user-bases* are going to find success even if the tech is less ideal. And after a certain point, nostr will just permanently branded as a bitcoiner only environment. The other protocols will also have time to adjust and get better too, but they'll *already* have a diverse user group.
And that might be a good goal for nostr if that's the goal, but it's not the goal i hear from most nostr devs. If the goal is to revolutionize connecting applications/users, you need to *want* other people here as a top priority. On a positive note, I heard Stuart of Satellite.earth was working on communities based around relays. I think an app based on discovering relay communities could be a big step forward in preventing the softening/drying out everyone's cult-averse genitals who give nostr a test run. It's a shame because the protocol has got to be the closest to the right design ever created.

I doubt there are any folks from Kansas City, MO, USA around but if you like loud music, come see us and support the touring band, Bog from Denton TX, with a few bones so they can get to the next stop. All our cover goes to touring band as usual.

My troll failed tho because the nostr used the nostr note address to thumbnail, but I wanted it spelled out to be a replacement for a bible verse

Blackjack: Rust-based procedural 3d modeler
https://github.com/setzer22/blackjack
Check out this early development of a rust based modeler. This is kind of taking the base concept of Blender's geometry nodes and Houdini. So really would be a a good base to develop very powerful features in the future. Looking very cool so far.

GIMP 2.99.16 Released: GTK+3 port complete
https://www.gimp.org/news/2023/07/09/gimp-2-99-16-released/
Read about the updates including that the port to GTK+3 is now finally complete.
(I know GTK4 is already a thing, but that move is much easier now that they are on 3)
I used to work at Apple retail store, people would lift up the lid excited about their new phone, not realizing the phone was just lightly sitting on top, and blam cracked.... instant trip 10 feet to get repaired.
