I meant more where I’m living, but I understand. I’ve been in my current role for almost 6 years but I’ve had a prolonged transition into another role and I’m very ready for it to be done with this one.
That whole 7-year itch thing is very accurate for me. I start to get really bored with wherever I am on about that timeline.

Walking back from a coffee shop in Nob Hill this afternoon, I saw this beautiful home and decided to look it up on Zillow. The property taxes are just over $19,000 per year, which means $1600/mo in property taxes alone.
So today my neighbors behind me are leaving Metro Portland for Houston. Cited reason being they wanted “a big house” and they can’t afford one here. Granted, they have 3 kids, but I don’t think anyone could pay me to live in Texas.
Regardless of my feelings, I continue to see an exodus of friends and acquaintances leaving for the South and Midwest.

One of the many things we do as planners…connect neighborhoods with bike/ped facilities for safe routes to school, walking routes to transit, etc. The neighborhood behind me was separated from the elementary school by a creek. Nice to see plans become reality.

Invited 3 people individually to a sold out concert (for free). Each sounded excited at the time and said they’d get back to me within a week. Several weeks later and not one person has responded.
Reality is they probably just forgot, but I cannot imagine being asked to go to something like this and not responding, even if I couldn’t go. I guess my feelings are hurt and I should grow thicker skin, but it feels like the Portland freeze strikes again.
