I don't think people realize how much the #ACINQ #Lightning node/LSP going down will affect #zaps and the entire LN, at least for a good while - BUT... I personally believe this is a gift in disguise.

I think that's it though - Not wallet should ever be non-functional based on geography. Sure, the primal functionality to buy sats via a provider may be disabled, but the wallet itself shouldn't be and should always be non-custodal, or at the very least allow for it.
It's happening more and more.
When will developers understand?
#Bitcoin is not compatible with #Fiat.
#Decentralize your businesses.

NIP59 may be the answer, I believe this is what 0xchat uses.
Even from the point of view of incremental improvements, I've only come across a handful of clients that have implemented NIP44, which is weird because it's been around a while and it's better than NIP-4/legacy DMs.
Irrelevant - BIOS and UEFI for the purposes of secureboot only care about the kernel files and the bootloader. And in the case of UEFI, you can bypass bootloader and directly launch the kernel.
Some distros have this built-in. Others, and for instance with arch, you can use sbctl which automates most of the process, by having you create keys, enrolling them, and then signing the boot files (this is with the default arch bootloader, systemd-boot).
It's interesting - Every #Samourai user I know of, myself included, is unable to move on to another #wwallet.
Users who used Samourai's server and looking into regaining an anon set due to the potentially leaked xpubs, but are still looking to continue using Samourai by running their own dojo. Users who run their own #Dojo, like myself, are helping such users.
In summary, and truly saddening, after 15 years of #Bitcoin there is still no replacement for what #SamouraiWallet provides.
Absolutely, you do you - But not correct to say Desktop Linux is horrible now, when the fact is, Linux allows you to take out what you don't want. If you're willing to go through the effort of cutting your lawn with scissors, but not uninstall some garbage packages to keep the machine you use to connect to the world clean and in a known state to yourself (or just put it together in 10 mins as arch allows), then I think that's a different issue entirely.
Great UI, great polish, great for onboarding new people. Very poor on choice/options. I think that's the point, it's a set in stone "this is it, take it or leave it" app, which caused me to leave it, but great for others.
Lack of self-custody/pluggable options is a huge minus.
This is true of pre-configured distributions. But I guess that's the point.
Arch is still fairly lightweight and easy to install - You get a distro to mold however you want.
You can host websites fully on nostr without domains: https://github.com/vitorpamplona/nostr-web-server
This would just require building browsers or browser extensions that could understand this and use note ids to fetch content and navigate hyperlinks.
Yep that makes, this is in line with what I am looking for - Thank you!
I'm more thinking for things like the hosting of websites..
I fully agree with what you've said, just wondering how that'd work, and whether there's anything in development already.
To be clear, I don't think Amethyst has the option to use a self-hosted ntfy server - I think it's setup exactly the same as Amber - Public ntfy.sh server, with a unique topic for the app instance.
Thanks anyway, really appreciate you taking a further look - Happy to perform any further testing as well. If I can get Amber to work with nip-46 it would be huge for me.
Installed Orbot and enabled tor - No luck.
Tried force stopping and restarting Amber fresh, but nothing.
Also tried over VPN, and with a SOCKS5 proxy, no notifications.
I haven't actually seen Amber in action beyond local apps, so just to make sure I have the correct expectation with NIP-46 functionality:
I create a new app on Amber, take the ID, paste it on a web client that supports NIP46, receive a notification on Amber to sign event permissions for the client to access - Correct?
Either way, no notifications unfortunately.
That's right, no notifications for Amber. I can see the Amber background service, and I get notifications for Amethyst via ntfy, but the ntfy topic for amber has no notifications so far.
I tried every client in the awesone-nip46 list (thanks btw!), and they all end up "connecting" endlessly. However, Nostrnests returns "invalid address" and snort doesn't seem to have a nip-46 option (although I still tried to input it in the login field, but nothing happened (no feedback from login button).
Crap, I was under the impression Sparrow Wallet and some other were setting up new coordinators, but I just saw now Sparrow have also removed whirlpool for their wallet.
Really unfortunate timing, but probably not a coincidence.
Thanks for the reply. I've tried with both the secret option on and off. Also tried with direct connection and notif server - Went as far as spinning up my own ntfy server, until I realised I can't change it on amber hehe.
To be clear, I:
Tap the + Button
Tap New App
And take the copied bunker:// string to noStrudel/Coracle.
Any other clients that you know of that supposedly support nip-46?
Unsure if I'm doing something wrong with Amber.
Trying to connect a web client via NIP-46, tried noStrudel and Coracle but neither are able to connect. Using default relay.nsec.app relay. Any pointers?
Thanks
