Yeah but even in your own following feed, you'd probably want to restrict what data you pull from relays. Maybe you'd even want to disable the global feed entirely. I'm not sure how the event pulling tactics work on the different clients though.
It will come soon enough I think. Nostr is still so young so it's natural that we're talking so much about it. It also depends on your own social graph, if you only follow bitcoiners and nostr builders, everything we talk about will naturally be about those topics.

Not sure how mobile data packages works there but most nostr clients are pretty data hungry atm. Maybe Amethyst devs are able to make some kind of data-saving mode where you don't need to pull all the data that you pull today. E.g. pull only from a small set of relays while on a mobile network connection, disable automatic pull of reaction events, etc.
