If you haven't been down the Whitney Webb rabbit hole on Thiel/Plantair here's the latest....https://fountain.fm/episode/zHVXwj8LsBiwjorlscvA
I haven't listened to her for a bit. I think she's great (super depressing, but great).
Will put this podcast on my list - thank you
chores (though maybe they fit under "love")
Finally on #NOSTR!
Thank you nostr:npub16c0nh3dnadzqpm76uctf5hqhe2lny344zsmpm6feee9p5rdxaa9q586nvr and the nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg team.
LFG! 🚀🧡
Welcome!!
Yeah, that's a given.
I'm more interested in whether a small but well-funded govt with surveillance powers is actually more dangerous for the populace than a large sprawling bureaucracy.
Hi! welcome to Nostr 💜
You just need to create your own experience: do searches for topics that interest you, and make sure to follow those people and hashtags. I've learned a lot on here in several areas that have nothing to do with bitcoin.
Some election thoughts for US-based folks:
An ever-growing federal bureaucracy means more and more siphoning of citizen wealth over time. A large body of agencies, regulations and workers also means ridiculous inertia into the system which discourages innovation, works against the sovereignty and individual freedoms of the citizens, and allows some truly nasty behind-the scenes manipulation by security agencies etc. We know this. For many of us, it's why we're here on Nostr.
What happens when that bureaucracy is cut way down but augmented with AI? unless you simultaneously de-fund the federal government, it seems to me that the result is a dramatic increase in centralized power.
I guess I'm wondering if inertia in the current system is actually a slight buffer against a sudden seizure of power.
After now watching Trump more closely than I had before, I don't think he's particularly hungry for that kind of power - certainly no more than other politicians and possibly less - but some folks near him probably are, and in any case we're looking at a frigtening incentive structure.
Add to that the ties between the Trump campaign and Palantir and it gets very troubling.
I love that Rogan had Trump on the show, but I'm frustrated that no one seems to be asking about Peter Thiel and surveillance technology in general. Haven't yet listened to the Vance interview.
I was so hoping that would happen. Would have been absolutely hilarious
🍿
I have major concerns about Trump, but I enjoyed his Rogan interview and absolutely love the idea of Harris' team trying to set up the interview.
Sounds like it was something like "we'll allow you to interview her if we can set these conditions." Do these people still not understand that she's not in a position to negotiate? That Rogan - his two-person team, his simple and straightforward interviewing style - is the more powerful person in this interaction?
Yes, child abuse.
Incredible that this is on the market but that raw milk is illegal 🤬
Need more of this #nostr

This is POW parenting.
It's easy to say "you're smart," "you're wonderful," "I trust you" but giving children important tasks shows that you actually believe these things to be true. Chores give children the chance to discover that they're capable, willing, and clever enough to do things and to figure them out when problems arise.
At times it can take more energy and patience on the part of the parent, but the lessons for the child are priceless.

With politics, I always want to talk to people with different opinions to help me understand their perspective—and maybe my own.
With the election coming up and being in LA, I asked my friend Mike Brock to discuss the issues at hand with me.

There are so many critical things one could say about Trump (paging nostr:npub1g0587hzzckcncxfm78n0996qe2s58nspy29wf02tqcj5sdzcpj4q6j40hv), but Brock just seems uninformed and deeply partisan.
I was yelling at my phone today as I listened 😬. Not sure I can make it to the end.
Appreciate you pushing back on some of his claims.
Before covid, I went in and out of awareness of how messed up govt was and how much we were molded by propaganda. I read Chomsky and Illich, was horrified by the power of pharma and military lobbies, saw how uni-dimensional thinking was destroying our ability to even formulate useful policies as a society. But somehow I went through my daily life without quite connecting all of that to political power and my daily use of media.
But covid craziness- wow. I saw all the dysfunction playing out right in front of me. At this point I can't unsee it.
thank you! I remember seeing the note about comments
At this point I've sent in comments for so many proposed policies, many of which were deeply unpopular with Americans and had thousands of critical comments, and it doesn't seem to make a difference (though if you're with the BPI, maybe you have insight on this - I'd love to be wrong!).
Practically speaking - if they do reserve part of the spectrum, what does that mean in practice for meshtastic users?
ok, this sounds permanent. Thank you. I don't know if we have a Dremel but I'll check.
ahh - that's a great idea. Thank you!
Do you carve into them (or is there a marker that will stay?)
Thank you! the issue is that it's many varieties of each type (different apple or blueberry plants) so I'd have to have quite a series of codes for the colors.
but thanks - I'll see if I can incorporate this
