I've learned something profound about community since moving to a rural area. The bonds among neighbors are not dependent on similar outlooks and folks near us don't need to be our new best friends. The relationships actually kind of transcend world views and experience and just require decency, respect, and the willingness to help. We have each other's backs and will help each other in a pinch.
I actually saw that a bit on my (densely urban and diverse) street growing up, but otherwise it hasn't been my experience living in cities.
#community
Yes, but it's for the common good!
(Of all the things I find odious about propaganda, the weaponization of human decency is one of the worst. I know that plenty of people were for the mandates because of virtue signalling and fear, but a lot of others genuinely thought they were on the side of goodness and for the general welfare of their fellow humans.)
#askNostr gardeners, homesteaders and permies
Do you have a reliable way to label your fruit trees and bushes? I don't have a printer and we have different varieties that I want to keep track of (for pollination, for propagation and sharing).
I'll be working on a decent map but our land is hilly and complex - lots of nooks and crannies - so that's challenging, and I'd love some kind of tag that can go on or next to each one. Permanent marker on normal plant labels are fading within a season for me.

wow - I love how once a tech is out there, people come up with creative ways to use it đ¤Š
thank you! I wasn't sure how any of it worked - if they could somehow stop it all
#askNostr #meshtastic
hi folks! I'm perpetually behind in the freedom tech that I want to look into. It's a long list, and I'm not technically inclined.
I remember seeing some very disturbing stuff about the US govt wanting to ban encryption on some radio frequencies. Does this jeopardize meshtastic? It sounds very appealing but if someone in the FCC can push a button and disable the network I will move it lower on my list.
Yes, fat is important! I would think of rabbits as a (very easy) source of protein and manure and plan to get your fat elsewhere.
I don't know anything about pigeons but it's good to hear that they're still common in some areas.
Despite all my other reservations, I would probably vote for Trump but the connections to Palantir are scary.
Mass military-grade surveillance is likely coming anyway, but Trump's admin seems like a shortcut. Vance is smarter than anyone the US has seen in that office in a long while - and deeply connected to Thiel.
GM, Odell!

This is something I wonder about all the casual use of ChatGPT out there. Aren't folks just feeding into a massive LLM which will undoubtedly be used against us all?
No (assuming it's actually good advice). Good genes are great but healthful living > genetics from what I've seen
oh, good! we've tried a bunch of things but haven't yet made a rabbit stew.
It definitely takes flavors very well.
Yeah, I know đ˘
Our rabbits system here at the homestead is one of the most profitable and integrated we've built so far. Because the food for the rabbits is mostly weeds and prunings from around the homestead and they dont the job of growing out cannabis, we essentially get all the meat for free in addition to the revenue from the cannabis seeds.

Yes! I love seeing the photos of your rabbit set-up, Rev đ
We opted for cages rather than colony for various reasons, but I'll mention your rabbit+cannabis system in the workshop.
I didn't mention this in the pros, but for those who already have chickens, rabbits integrate really nicely. You can set them up so that their droppings fall onto a carbon source and the chickens dig through and mix it all up for you.
Droppings can also fall into worm bins, soldier fly bins, or duckweed, all of which are great for the birds.
Cute factor aside, they're way easier to butcher than chickens.
Pretty much guaranteed that Michael Saylor was not dm'ing anyone in Nostr with advice. Lots of copycat accounts out there.
