“As backlash against AI data centers over their electricity and water use is growing worldwide, their public health impact is also receiving heightened attention. Some state agencies have begun conducting health impact assessments of data centers’ on-site diesel generators to inform emission limits, and residents near a large AI data center in Memphis, Tennessee, have raised strong concerns about air pollution and health risks—concerns that have reached national headlines.”

Just like Bitcoin mining, there will be data centers that use fossil fuels and those who don’t.
Re: custodians, Im not quite sure if I completely agree with you.
Multi Institutional Custody seems to be a secure way to hold your main chunk of bitcoin. Third party custody is okay if they do not hypothecate your bitcoin and if you understand the risks.
I do believe however that we should spend with bitcoin as much as we can.
Try using marshmallows to build your house Timmy.
Value is not purely subjective. It requires an object that can objectively fulfil the goal.
You can have your cardboard in the desert, I’ll have my bottle of water.
Exactly.
They made the incentives favour paper bitcoin to take your bitcoin out of your hands.
They seize the physical copy of seed phrases or private keys. They can’t seize it through the network itself. There’s a big difference.
Not sure about Singapore, they have digital ID and currently building CBDCs. 0 cap tax has been the norm for tradfi for years, not just for Bitcoin.
Then you haven’t really understood proof of work and why it is the real innovation.
As I said, when the internet first came about, there were many other companies trying to create intranets and market them as a service. The open decentralised one won.
When bitcoin first came about, there were many other companies trying to create their own protocols and market them as having a unique use case. Will the open decentralised secure protocol bounded by energy win? Or is this time different?
Telephone communications could not be built upon, unlike the internet, and bitcoin.
Bitcoin performs the base layer function of storing and transferring value in a decentralised and secure manner perfectly, and that’s all it needs to do.
Privacy tech or faster transactions are already built on layer 2.
If theres any more technological innovations on money, it will be built upon the bitcoin stack.
If the innovation is not about money, it won’t compete with bitcoin.
Just like how any communications innovation, like Nostr, is built on top of the internet stack, instead of inventing a whole new protocol that competes with the internet.
Another analogy that tries to lump Bitcoin with technologies instead of a protocol.
Base 10 math is a protocol, all the theorems and formulas emerge from that. Base 10 math does not get replaced.
The internet is a protocol. Websites and apps emerge from that. The internet does not get replaced
It is easy to confuse bitcoin as a technology to be replaced rather than a protocol to have other things built upon.
Ok so now your point is?
Look man I don’t have time to explain to you if you couldn’t get it. Protocols and technologies are fundamentally different. One’s winner take most, other is winner takes all. You either learn about it or don’t. Cheers and have a great week ahead.
*Gestures broadly at all the shitcoins bleeding against bitcoin*
Idk bro you tell me
Upgraded and built upon, exactly as what’s happening now
Wrong. The internet is not crypto. the internet is Bitcoin. Cryptos are the various private and proprietary networks that tried to compete with the internet, but we don’t even remember a single one of them now do we? The same fate befalls on the shitcoins.
has anyone invented a new internet yet? no? okay
If our ego wasn’t at stake, bitcoin would have already been adopted globally by now.
i would rather onboard a million more families than having a million dollar bitcoin.
funny, tell me who made introduced inscriptions hack in the first place, and redefine datacarriersize to not patch the hack, and now use this hack as an excuse to remove op_return limits?
There’s been an influx of bot accounts posing as notable bitcoin personalities like Jeff Booth, Lyn Alden, Guy Swann etc. How do we combat bot accounts on Nostr? #asknostr
r/Bitcoin is clearly maintained by core mods. Any mention of their malicious intent in changing the definition of spam is promptly removed and you get perma banned. They are directly censoring opposing arguments, the irony is astounding. nostr:nprofile1qqs0m40g76hqmwqhhc9hrk3qfxxpsp5k3k9xgk24nsjf7v305u6xffcpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnfdenx7tcprpmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujucm4wfex2mn59en8j6f0hv2w3f nostr:npub1s33sw6y2p8kpz2t8avz5feu2n6yvfr6swykrnm2frletd7spnt5qew252p
