I am going to the Plan B forum Oct 20-21 in Lugano, Switzerland specifically to hear Dr. Natalie Smolenski talk about the Satoshi Papers.

The Papers will feature essays seeking to clarify what self-sovereign, sound money implies for the optimal generative relating of state and society—both within the United States and worldwide.

This will be my first Bitcoin conference. Anyone else going?

"Incumbents want to frame all change in terms that do not upset the conditions affording them standing in a society. Oligarchs, priests, and politicians first do no harm to the systems of their authority. A secular shift occurs when a people’s authority does". -theyblinked-

"Governments are largely run by parties dumber and more self-serving than capital: a mangle of cynical confidence game operators playing bit parts in their party’s implementation of a Rube Goldberg machine that takes in taxes and spits out favors and war." -theyblinked-

The best protection against temptation in monetary policy is an unforgeably scarce, decentralized protocol money which results in the possibility of an enlightened and stability-oriented society.

#Bitcoin is a machine to reboot civilization.

"Independence dates for widely recognized states earlier than 1919 should be treated with caution, since prior to the founding of the League of Nations, there was no international body to recognize nationhood, and independence had no meaning beyond mutual recognition of de facto sovereigns (the role of the League of Nations was effectively taken over by the United Nations after the Second World War). See also: disputed territories.

Many countries have some remote (or fantastically remote) symbolic foundation date as part of their national mythology, sometimes artificially inflating a country's "age" for reasons of nationalism, sometimes merely gesturing at a long and gradual process of the formalizing national identity. Such dates reflect not the formation of a state (an independent political entity), but of a nation (an ethnic or cultural grouping), terms that are often conflated in the context of nation states."

He had to work on his midlife identity for decades. His "youth" was wild and transforming from that to his Pashtun identity required a lot. That scares the establishment as the acceptance to that new identity required the blessing of and loyalty to a very differemt power cemter, one they fear.

9 #coups in former French colonies in less than 3 years - incl. #Mali #Guinea #Burkina Faso #Chad #Niger and #Gabon. Covid games certainly added to political instability and weakening of the institutions. Probably going to see further increase of radicalization and leftism in many countries based on what has been ongoing during last 4 years.

“in 2024, 4 of the world's largest countries and territories will hold #elections that will shape global affairs during the second half of the decade. In March, #Russia is scheduled to hold a presidential election (to appoint its leader until 2030). Between April and May, #India will hold general elections to appoint the government and parliament that will lead the country until 2029. In June, the #EU will hold bloc-wide elections to appoint members of the European Parliament for the 2024-2029 period, which will also result in a new European Commission. Finally, the United States will hold legislative and presidential elections for the 2025-2028 period. Combined, these elections will cover a #population of roughly 2.3 billion people and a #GDP of approximately $42 trillion, and their results will set the tone for global interactions into the 2030s”

There is a deeper convo worth having here, but my traumatic brain injury is causing me to be fixated on the connection between male masturbation and money printing:

"Men are trading in paid labor for spending all day playing video games and masturbating. That's a net economic loss that alone is big enough to explain why they will have to roll out the money printers."

I just finished The Fourth Turning Is Here

What the Seasons of History Tell Us about How and When This Crisis Will End

By Neil Howe and have to say, I enjoyed it. I admit I found the second half more intriguing, but that is because I had read the first book recently as well.

Worth a read!

My daughter was 8 months old when she started flying internationally with me. A dad and a baby flying alone together was apparently a rare thing. Besides all the normal hassles from airlines about needing a signed letter from the mother "giving me permission to travel across international boarders with her", TSA BS about milk etc... The funniest part was the looks from people.

Grossly Oversimplified Observations:

Men between 20-35 years of age showed visible shock but were also the most helpful (a bro code I was not aware of?)

Women between 20-35 generally were just shocked but friendly. About half of the mothers of all ages were both shocked and seemed to be in a nervous standby to assistant mode.

Middle aged to older men tended to ignore and probably just hoped the baby stayed quiet, but if contact was made it was always friendly.

Examples: Multiple mid 20's dudes went out of the way to ask if they could help with bags or overhead bins, or ask the kind of questions that were polite but really ment "bro you OK?"

Mom's gave nervous but friendly looks, only one ever said anything which was an offer to help out and was very sweet.

Flight attendants were all over the place but mostly extremely nice or extremely not.

A couple middle aged men asked friendly but probing questions to try and wrap their head around the concept. One time in business class, a 50ish year old suit after an 8 hr flight (infant on my lap the entire time) said "I am really impressed, she is such a good flyer". My reply was, yes she is, and her father is pretty great too.

In her 7 years she lived in four different countries (3 in northern hemisphere and 1 in southern hemisphere) and visited 20 countries on 5 continents. She is currently fluent in two languages and has vocabulary in 3 others.

That's awesome man! How much does she remember now? Keep it up, 7 and beyond is when she will really experience and remember it.

Episode 2 of AI Unchained with Aleks Svetski

"This is the first time we've interacted with anything other than a parrot that can string together a coherent sentence... we're imagining that all of a sudden, that's it, we unlocked it, basically we have discovered God. We did it. To me that's such a mix of naivety, ignorance, and arrogance that it's not even funny." — Aleks Svetski

"Intelligence and consciousness live in totally fucking different places" haha.
