Things move fast around here

The good... everything is good for Bitcoin. I've had dozens of Ethereum and NFT people reach out to me about running nodes. They are learning about UTXOs. There are a lot of positives with this. Ethereum and Solana won't be around, nor with the web sites hosting their NFTs in a decade. Bitcoin will be around for hundreds of years. It makes sense for them to preserve their artwork on Bitcoin compared to alternatives.

The bad... it's a peer to peer electronic cash system, not a file system. It's spam. They're paying 3/4 less by using an exploit or an unintended use of the system. If they were paying the same fees as the rest of us, then I wouldn't hate it. If they were not abusing the system, then I wouldn't hate it.

The ugly... This would be me telling someone how they can use Bitcoin.

Lots of media and entertainment about to be replaced by bots at the rate this AI video and imagery technology is going.

This wasn't on my 2023 bingo card, but I'll take it. Time to teach Peterson some lightning, self custody, and perhaps plant a seed regarding Nostr given his many forays with censorship.

One thing I would never have imagined when I discovered Bitcoin around 10 years ago is that learning to understand and use it would, one day, make me feel like a good parent to my children.

Everyday I'm learning more and more about how to protect my wealth, my privacy and, by and large, my life. And now, each and every time, I think about how I will transmit these values, that became some of my core values, to them. How I will explain it all and try to make them connect all the dots to empower them and make them free and self-sufficient. How important it will be to make them understand that the one thing they can really truly own is those freaking 12 words in their heads.

And I can't help but hope that all my attempts, failures and successes, and all the future ones, will hopefully bring prosperity and peace in their lives.

When I look at pictures of the great pyramids in Egypt all I can think about is the tremendous amount of slave labor that would have been required to build those things (the pyramids were originally covered in white *polished!* limestone so it would glimmer in the sunlight). More than half the population would have been slaves to these crazy rulers who thought they were gods on earth. What the world doesn’t realize today is that when 90%+ of the global population is in debt up to their eyeballs with no glimmer of hope to ever pay off their rolling and ever increasing debts, we are living in a very similar situation. One difference between then and now is at least the Egyptian knew they were slaves.

Some people can see great potential in things even while they're in a rough draft. Others take a little more time to be convinced and can't see past the initial problems. They'll come around eventually and probably at the same point in the cycle that they were convinced on bitcoin after first hearing about it.
