I'm sure the team would appreciate help from #rust + #bitcoin devs out there, here's the github label to check: https://github.com/rust-bitcoin/rust-bitcoin/labels/1.0

Thanks nostr:npub1emdtsxly9m68m00x206t574jttp65vk0c2m89ms038q047yz7ylqcac9aw for getting the pizza today at @BitcoinPark ! #btcpizzaday

For anyone who missed it, pour one out for bitcoin's favorite cantillion-aire. A tribute to the irrepressible Charlie Munger from the recent BRK annual meeting:

“Unbridled government spending” sounds too innocent, I’d call it “the grotesque amount of government spending”.

Great way to look at US gov finances, but I don't think it includes the unfunded liabilities like SSI and medicare, etc.

Unfunded liabilities aren't counted in "national debt" and are somewhere north of $123T.

Not sure what you're equate these liabilities with for a family budget. Maybe as negative retirement savings and unpaid medical bills?

Seems that people are getting sour about passkeys:

https://fy.blackhats.net.au/blog/2024-04-26-passkeys-a-shattered-dream/

which is a shame IMO. I agree with the criticisms but still prefer them to email+pw.

Very interesting. I'm sorry to hear the browser big tech vendors are shitting it up, but I'm still hopeful. The root problem seems to be the apple/google browsers and key managers.

I agree with the author that using a third-party key manager with Passkey support like Bitwarden is the way to go. It's not perfect but still much better than using passwords. I guess we'll see, for now I'll still support Passkey or any other passwordless auth whenever I can.

This amazing impromptu interview is a great example of why anyone building or using a centralized web based service needs to switch to a password less authentication system, ideally supporting hardware tokens like a Yubikey.

Your grandma can't be scammed out of her password if there is no password or SMS 2FA or anything like that to give the person on the phone scamming her.

I hope new systems like Passkey become ubiquitous. Sure if you use Google or Apple for your keystores it's not ideal, but still a big improvement. And there's no lock-in saying you HAVE to use a hosted keystore/password manager, it's an open standard with multiple open-source implementations.

It feels like nostr is enabling a decentralized protocol renaissance. nostr:npub1v0lxxxxutpvrelsksy8cdhgfux9l6a42hsj2qzquu2zk7vc9qnkszrqj49 added this torrent NIP recently: https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/1175 what if we utilize bittorrent for discovering and sharing files via nostr? This is not a new idea but the network affects could have huge benefits on seeding:

Imagine someone reposts a torrent and says “please help me seed this”. Then clients could integrate bittorrent and start helping out right away. Then you could zap people who helped seed.

nostr can fix many decentralized protocol incentives problem just from its network effects and embrace of open protocols.

1000x love this idea. Also a great way to find out how censorship resistant #nostr is. The MPAA will be happy to help torture test it for us. 🙈

Another cool app built with nostr:npub13dk3dke4zm9vdkucm7f6vv7vhqgkevgg3gju9kr2wzumz7nrykdq0dgnvc 🙌

Who wants to guess the halving block nonce ?

I'm not aware of anyone running a nostr ready testnet faucet, but it looks like the mutinynet-faucet code can handle it with only a config file change: https://github.com/MutinyWallet/mutinynet-faucet-rs

Have you tried https://radicle.xyz? Did it work for you? Do you know how it works underneath? Should we stop the NIP-34 efforts and just adopt Radicle for decentralized code publishing and collaboration?

Does it bother you that the organization developing this project is funded by a pre-mined shitcoin? Even if their tech and team were awesome I couldn't support their funding model. Unless you want to fork the project and clearly disassociate from Radworks I think you run the risk participating in an affinity scam.

Looks like interesting tech but their premined “governance token” is a bad look https://www.coinbase.com/price/radicle

Onchain Sats received from nostr:npub1qf8e8cvfp60ywrah984zgsn8veggcrsv2cvttdr47tgz05ypf5yszwx308 faucet to BDK iOS example wallet triggered by sending receive address via nostr DM! Love it.

That's awesome! I'm usually just testing/demoing with on-chain coins but still good good to know.

Random project idea I'll problem never get to but maybe someone else would like to do:

Testnet or signet faucet nostr bot that keep track of if/how much test coins your npub has requested, contributed and/or returned. Require some sort of npub PoW for new account requests or follows by other well behaved accounts. Could also require answering some random bitcoin history and/or dev protocol trivia questions. Could publicly shame users who receive coins but never return any. Extra credit if bot also supports LN.
