I'm a photographer/filmmaker/theatre artist based out of Anchorage, Alaska. Timezone GMT-9

After spending a couple of days on here and getting a better feel for the vibe, and tagging stuff with content warning is unreliable, I'm going to be posting any NSFW content to a separate profile @ryanzyro nostr:npub1rx9knlwmqqmlhw3x6mfe0aglpvg44jrq0pf9zvkareuwq2rktx4qrtejy7

I can't do anything about what's already been posted, since deleting things is also very unreliable, so if you don't want to see anything NSFW don't scroll past here in my history. If you do want to see things NSFW go sub to my new profile :)

If you had a wallet setup I would def zap you some sats on this 🀣

Can one not pay taxes? Sure, we're coerced to do so, but what's stopping you from exercising your liberty withhold payment, and face the the consequences? Your acquiescence to their superior power. That willingness to be subservient is a national character thing. If we as a people simply didn't tolerate tyranny, there would be no tyranny.

I had this thought this morning listening to the podcast linked below, where Peter describes the entrepreneurialism of the Taiwanese. They don't tolerate economic repression, and so it isn't implemented. This used to be the case in the US, but certainly isn't anymore, in general we now do all we can to comply with whatever arbitrary rules are assigned.

The state exists at the implicit consent of the governed. I don't mean this in the sense of social contract theory (which is bunk), but because short of a theoretical technology-enforced tyranny, the government is always vulnerable to reform or revolution, however absolute its nominal powers.

The state is also comprised of the governed. This isn't always or completely true, as in foreign occupation or deep class divides, but Sherrifs, IRS agents, bureaucrats, and voters are all members of the nation first, and members of the ruling class second. The character flaws inherent in these people that cause them to consent explicitly to their government are a result of the national character. Russians take bribes, therefore the government rules by bribes. Americans have become lazy and complacent, therefore the government rules by inertia.

This isn't how it has to be, but it is how it is because of the ones with agency β€” us (whatever historical circumstances we could also blam). Believing in the tenets of anarcho capitalism does not make the described utopia materialize without the courageous and self-sacrificial exercise of personal agency in the situation we currently find ourselves.

Which is why we're on nostr πŸ˜‰

It's an option, but "dealing the consequences" means going to jail and/or having all of your property seized and sold, so it's a shit option unless you have no property to seize and can stay off law enforcement radar.

Could a few people take a look at this note as see what shows up and let me know what you see and what client you are using?

I'm testing out the "delete" function in snort and for me it still shows up in some clients, but not in others. The post says it's a test and has a picture of me in a colorful shirt.

#iris.to #test #snort.social

Are you using iris.to at all? If I look at this note in snort, it says it's gone. If I look at it in iris, it's there. I test using a couple of different relays one at a time from a new account and different web client. So as far as I can tell snort is respecting the NIP-09 and iris is ignoring it.

Tried zapping you some sats, but it's kicking out an error on both Iris and Primal.

Nostr has it in the protocol, using nip-36 to tag content warnings when you post and nip-56 to report content. It's an issue of clients implementing the features or not.

I'm not on ios so I'm not sure what Damus is doing, but I know plebstr will filter content reported via nip-56 and will have nip-36 in their next release.

I likely won't post many more like that going forward. There just happened to be an #artstr day themed around nudes right after I joined. Today was nature so floods of landscapes and sunsets :)

I also wasn't posting from client that allowed for nip-36 content warning. Didn't realize it existed, but will be doing so for any posted in the future. Hopefully Damus will start implementing nip-36 filtering.

Trying to be active here and wouldn't mind a few follows :)

There is a delete as part of the #nostr protocol, nip-09, but not all clients impliment it. I know Iris, amethyst, and snort do. Relays all *should* accept it, and either delete the event, or mark it as something that should not be viewed.

But, because of how things propagate out to relays it can take time for it to actually be removed from everywhere, if at all.

I'm currently testing it out with a post I did yesterday, and then deleted earlier today. So far it's not 100% gone, but I'm going to give it a day and clear all my caches and see if it's gone everywhere or not.

If you want to check you can look at my posts and see if you see it. It says it's test of the delete function and had a picture of me in a very colorful shirt.
