Sure, this is probably an inevitable necessity. But, by then 10 TB HDDs will be as ubiquitous and cheap as 1 TB HDDs are today, and bandwidth in most regions will allow for downloading the blockchain at 10GB/s or something even more ridiculously fast.

Oh, good. Thought I was going to hear it worked differently than I understood, because I saw both you and Lopp post something similar and I know you both understand these things way better than me.

Isn't is both a guess and check, though?

Guess the nonce, run it all through SHA-256 complex math algo to get a hash, and see if that hash meets the criteria to be considered valid.

No? Then replace the nonce with a new guess and run the math again to get a new hash.

So it is both guessing AND doing complex math to check.

And by complex math, I only mean that you can't simply look at the mathematical functions and the output (the hash) you would need from them and work backwards to figure out what the input (the nonce) needs to be.

Yeah, that's an interesting one, too, but it is definitely not as massive a change as Bitcoin.

It went from 85oz/yr to 201oz/year, before falling and eventually putting in lows of 27os/yr, and up slightly to 35oz/yr as of November of 2023.

This means cost of living in Gold has only decreased by 58% since 2010, while cost of living in Bitcoin has decreased by 99.999%, and cost of living in USD terms has increased by 59%.

Can we agree that if there is an entity that can be deemed "in control" enough to be sued, it isn't really decentralized?

For whatever reason, it isn't included.

You can find the chart here: https://inflationchart.com/life-in-btc/?show_stock=0&show_adjuster=0&logarithmic=1

The cost of living for BTC has a high of 461.8k BTC/yr at the high on the left, and 2.08 BTC/yr as of November of 2023 on the right.

The only two charts you need to see.

Jack Mallers made a great point in his Money Matters podcast today.

Governments only really have two choices:

1. They can hold onto their privilege of seigniorage and drive #Bitcoin adoption from the inflation it causes.

or

2. They can let go of this privilege and adopt Bitcoin themselves, which will also result in more adoption of Bitcoin.

One might think they have a third option of holding onto the privilege of seigniorage and simply opt not to use it, but the reality is that so long as there is any possibility of printing more money, it is only a matter of time before they use it.

The more I observe our political system, the more I believe that many of its ills are directly due to the fact that those in power are elected by the people.

The voter base will always vote for government to give them more stuff, while also voting for less taxes for themselves, by pushing the tax burden to "them" who they imagine are undeservingly rich.

Yet, there is no more ethical means of deciding who will hold political office available to us this side of Christ's return. So protect yourself from the stupidity of the masses as best you can and pray, "Come quickly, Lord."

If an asset exists that has perfect scarcity, and you have the opportunity to own it before most of the world figures it out, then there is no "buy low, sell high." You buy, and you keep buying, because whatever price you get it at now is going to look cheap as dirt in the long run.

Moreover, such an asset is likely to catch you by surprise. While you are waiting for a "dip" to buy, it may rip faces off and the dip you get is when it goes from $100k to $75k instead of the $50k you were hoping for.

What's funny is, I actually post from nostrudel.ninja, but use primal for sharing a link to it, since the presentation is more approachable and aesthetic.
