#bitcoin and stuff

Key observation: the conditions of the last 40-50 years no longer exist, so the things that worked so well before (real estate, stocks, etc) are not going to work so well going forward.

Buy #bitcoin and educate yourself.

a friend of mine went through the whole program of korean on duolingo just to be able to enjoy korean soap operas

Even for them, there are far more important concerns than bitcoin. Let's not make the mistake of elevating bitcoin to be more than it is -- it is the best money ever invented, but money is just a tool for social coordination. Good money will help to improve many societal ills that are currently symptoms of corrupt money, but good money will not fix everything.

I happen to believe there are higher order concerns (things of eternal nature), but even if you are strictly focused on civil society, we need to foster virtue to have any chance of long-term success.

I can't quite refuse to use it at this point, but I'm trending that way

bitcoin signal on nostr is good, though it feels very bro club. twitter still has far more useful content in other domains, including the opportunity to be exposed to things outside the echo chamber

"nostr will end up like email,,," - are you giving up already? What tools are available to make that less likely? Paid relays are should help, but that still means it is likely to centralize over time.

Maybe relays become more focused on specific topics, and you choose the specific ones you want to pay for like a la carte cable.

Then how do you get serendipitous exposure to new content and communities?

got down to -9F last night, after a high of 50F the day before. Had to bump the Whatsminers up to high power mode to keep up (normally run in low power, and have to keep windows open).

One thing about hashing for home heating is the response time is pretty slow -- if you let things get out of a comfortable range, it can take a while to heat back up. The heat is constant, but it's low grade, so it takes a while to warm the house.

http://iris.to is great and solid

iris seems more stable than snort. Snort keeps crashing my browser
