I'm not really anti-union in any conventional sense I just find the knee-jerk assumption "union good employers" bad a bit simplistic and whether they truly represent all workers given there may be workers who disagree with the politics of the union itself but see the advantages of collective bargaining and strikes.

I ducked out of my usual weekend because I wanted to finish up some learning which I thought was going to be difficult, but turned out to be quite easy and now I've got some free time. I haven't played computer games for years because my main PC wasn't up to it (I play Gaia Project and Star Realms on my phone - so technically I have).
My brother kept recommending Disco Elysium and coincidentally it was on special offer at GoG (Deus Ex, the brilliant original one - updated so it'll run is 69p, which I assume is about $1). So I installed it.
A grimy wonderful comic book world that reminds me of 1980s/1990s LucasArts games. I kind of feel like I'm forced to choose between two groups of knobends and I'm trying to play through with medium loathing (the union) to strong loathing (raceweenies) of both sides. Whether it ends up like Lars von Trier's Europa remains to be seen.
Then I'm going to get back to the grindstone.

The Snorlax may look sloth like but he's 350 and whizzes through the Sudoku. His diet is mostly surstrΓΆmming, for the ready glutamates, and treble espressos with a shot of Maggi liquid seasoning.
This is fascinating:
If borne out raises the question of whether a brief (what duration would need exploring) nap helps, whether meditation helps, or stimulants like coffee, help reduce the glutamates. There are anecdotal reasons to think they may. Also interesting that such fatigue can be compensated by people through willpower (presumably to a greater or lesser extent) and whether that's a good thing for a person's health or bad thing for a person's health (and then short term or long term).

COVID about. Checking my notes about when I had COVID last year and it was 8 days from testing positive to testing negative. I got lucky. However, a useful part of keeping notes is that 4 days before that I noted feeling febrile and delirious. Then followed by feeling mostly better the next day so I didn't bother testing until I had a sore throat. So it was probably closer to 12 days (assuming it could have been incubating prior to symptoms). A craving for fry-ups (bacon, eggs, sausages, tomatoes, toast), increased salt sensitivity and hyperosmia. The hyperosmia persisted (luckily not unpleasantly manifested) and the salt/flavour sensitivity was like being a kid again but faded. It wasn't the worst but it wasn't good - tediously fatigue and a weird feeling. Wolfing down fry-ups with a razorblade sore throat required sucking anaesthetic lozenges while cooking. I wouldn't generalise my experience to that of other people or assume that if I got it again it'd be the same - nature has dice.
Error handling is basically the same as everything else computer programming - 50% plumbing and 50% logic - and it's hugely important. Coding can be like cooking, error handling feels like peeling a ton of shallots with papery thin skin that gets under the nails. It's essential for the banquet but my brain rebels given the slightest distraction.
There are, no doubt, given the strangeness and myriad people out there, those who like peeling shallots but hate cooking. I'd like to meet someone who loves error handling coding but hates general programming. I hope they are well paid, it's more skillful than peeling shallots, but I'd also like to check they're human. Also a good legend for a James Bond or Marvel baddie - the 'error handler'.

God bless ye, merry, quite stunningly over-optimistic when it comes to my participation, coin spammers.

Vicious, obviously, and the other errors, down to bastard cats and bleary-eyed rational interpretation of the importance of that nostr relative to good sleep. Unedited, like a kind of nerdy Dril, for authenticity. I think plural nostrs for messages and nostrers is akin to tweets and tweeters. Nostreratu.
