“The notion of “economics” as an invention, was created at the beginning of the industrial revolution. ECONOMICS IS AN IDEOLOGY. Labor, money, etc are self-referential. They refer to each other and only to each other. They are completely disconnected from thermodynamics.”

The English word “risk” is a derivative of the Arabic “ris”.

“Ris” meaning the spoils of war, the very real resources allotted to the victorious soldiers surviving a war.

Economic “risk” as described by market actors and economists is detached from thermodynamics, and therefore not connected to real resources.

Therefore, the entire point of money is to swindle—to trade “risk” for “ris”… that’s the scam.

Ive been reading “Leviathan and it’s Enemies”. The crux is that liberalism (classical type with laisse-fair econ & cosmopolitan culture) gave rise to the managerial state in order to organize the means of mass production. Essentially making a planned economy with priority on the self-interest aimed at consumption to benefit the managerial class. It will be interesting to see how Bitcoin incentives influence mass production, national economies and their respective bureaucratic classes.

In a type I managerial regime, public opinion is swayed through deception and propaganda. Influential players in media push the agenda of the ruling regime, often without explicit collaboration, as the incentives align to expand the size and power of the managerial state. These incentives by default collude against the individual and small entrepreneur. No intended malice or nefarious motives are necessary to create the conditions to act in opposition to the creative potential and productivity of the individual or small group.

For example—you never see the opposite incentive: offer a lower fee for fewer items. Only a higher fee for more items. There is no incentive to reduce the cost to the customer—even if they produce 10x less waste than the average customer.

And to be clear, i agree that the blanket fee for “extra items” is dumb. I just think, like all govt enforced monopolies, this method absolves the service providers of real accountability to their “customers”

I agree that taking per-capita into account is definitely more fair than a flat per-unit/address waste fee that benefits a govt enforced monopoly. This is my issue. The incentives produce a situation where the most wasteful are subsidized by the least wasteful. 🤷🏽

I understand your opinion. However, I like the idea of pay-for-what-you-use. I don’t live in Canada, but basically i only use my trash service once every 2-3 months. I end up picking up trash from my neighbors’ cans every trash day. So, in a very real way i am subsidizing their bad consumption habits. The managerial State does not reward efficiency. The trash company has a monopoly on trash services, and the State gets their administrative cut. There is no incentive to optimize for the “customer” because it would mean less value extraction for the State/Corporate blob.

You can’t always do whatever you want, but you sure as hell can try

i would focus more on technique in baseball. also, i’d marry a japanese woman, but still avoid most seafoods

I haven’t read Dune. The documentary on Jordorowsky’s 1970s never-made version is fascinating. This take on the 1980s David Lynch and the 2021 Villenueve version is kind of inspiring, and relevant to our current human condition. What am i a philosopher now? Worth the 16 minutes:

I missed a day on Thursday. I was a little sick. Burning indigestion. I haven't had the flu since covid, btw--just acid frying the nerves in my brain stem and a little chest congestion. Anyway, I did 250 the next day, which is Friday. that's the rule: miss a day, do the 100 make-ups + 50 more. I did the corresponding squats and lateral pulls, because I think about how my skeleton and muscles function.

THAT'S THE CHEAT CODE: THINK ABOUT SKELETONS
