That’s why when you have set your final GENESIS key you put it away/lock it in with some method (weld, loctite, jbweld, etc.)

And you are exactly right about backups—you always should have backups, like any other system that generates a new key (paper, Trezor, etc.)

I haven’t mentioned it much so worth a repeat: On this website’s spreadsheets page you will also find free #bitcoin related spreadsheets for calculating sha256, ECDSA secp256k1 (public keys, use the smaller binary spreadsheet I just made), bech32, and a few others including an actual bitcoin mining spreadsheet that works.

If you are #bitcoin’s #fiat price-addicted, may I suggest a little mind hack? Start replacing what you look at and track the sats/fiat price (aka Moscow Time) instead, for three reasons:

1. It makes your brain do some math most times you look at the sats/fiat until you don’t need the fiat price of a bitcoin any longer, slowing you down

2. Sats/fiat move less quickly due to rounding, making you feel more calm, and;

3. When the fiat price of bitcoin goes down, the sats/fiat value goes up, a) reminding you you get more sats for your fiat, and b) the general reversal of up and down has an offsetting affect on your brain (it’s going down but it’s going up—all is well.)

These really work, try it for a while.

New spreadsheet out—12th and 24th word generator when you *randomly!*, manually select the first seed phrase words. This spreadsheet gives you all the possible last check words

Interesting aspects:

• In a 12-word seed phrase for first 11 words there are 128 possible 12th words that will work as a check word

• In a 24-word seed phrase for the first 23 words there are only 8 possible 24th words that will work as the check word

There are also some interesting diminishing randomness probability due to this aspect but won’t get into it here as it’s been discussed elsewhere

This is a tool for learning and fun—take extra care everything is offline whenever working with private keys. The spreadsheet does not have macros or array formulas so there’s that
