Robosats, decentralized and anonymous Bitcoin exchange.

I will try to make a brief summary of why Robosats.

- This year the Mica regulation has been introduced in the European Union and the global travel rule, Bitcoin on- and off-ramps are being controlled through KYC. If your government knows that you have Bitcoin I assure you that you will end up paying some tax that they will invent.

- It is decentralized, it currently has 4 coordinators.

- It is anonymous, runs behind tor, and is focused on privacy, it does not collect any buyer and seller information.

- Easy to use

- It runs on Lightning.

Advantages over bisq:

- Easier to use, faster since it runs over lightning and does not require any heavy app like bisq, just the tor browser.

Advantages over lnp2pbot:

- More anonymous and decentralized, since lnp2pbot depends on Telegram which is not exactly anonymous and decentralized.

Advantages over HodlHodl:

-HodlHodl is a centralized service that collects buyer and seller information.

Here you have the statistics of the last day, as you can see it has a more than acceptable premium of 2% for buying Bitcoin without KYC.

I am often thinking about what would be the ideal governance. Ideal defined as a system with the lowest degree of change, since most participants are in a balance of liberty to do what they want and an understanding of the logical consequences and obligations of these liberties.

And often my thoughts come to a model of versioning system like git, where every individual defines the rules one want to live with. Everyone has her or his own set of laws, that can be as extreme as they want.

The only thing is that anyone can read through anyones laws and copy and merge parts that one likes better then the versions one currently has saved. Fully opensource style.

Then with some software to examine diffrences one finds out with which people one cooperates and does things together in some kind of contract or not. Like this similar oriented people can find to eachother and live together. Can be accepted or not freely to a community based on their preferences.

Is there someone thinking about new political systems as well?

My husband’s 8-year-old niece is having a birthday party with relatives and friends invited. But all seven friends declined to come, one by one, either due to getting sick or family issues or because some of them have big tests.

And the mom was hesitant to tell her about the last ones, including her best friend, being unable to come, since that final piece of news is devastating. So when we arrived, the niece was super happy, dressed up like a princess, showing us all the decorations and picking which colored forks each of her friends would have for the cake.

Basically, the expectations and reality couldn’t be more starkly different. It was like a comedy show setting up for a sad punchline. And eventually the mom dropped the bombshell, crying ensued, etc. The niece said this would be awful since her party would be all adults talking.

So, now I’m playing My Little Pony with her for damage control. Next, I’m going to blow up a lot of balloons to throw around with her and challenge her to see how many she can keep in the air at once. And then she wants to watch Inside Out 2 together.

I spent another 100,000 sats on a zap-vertising experiment…

And I think I proved that advertising on Nostr actually works…

I sent 4105 zaps over the course of 3 days for a total of 112,000 sats.

Each zap contained a link for a blog post:

My goal was to see if I could get a reasonable cost per click (CPC)…

2️⃣ The results:

During the campaign I had a total of 71 unique visitors to the page.

CPC was 1578 sats or $1.50 usd.

I also gained 245 followers from that campaign.

These CPCs are in line with other ad platforms which validates the overall concept for me.

3️⃣ What I learned / brain dump:

- Results were better than expected.

- I thought there might have been a bit of negative push back (however none received).

- There is a chance I am significantly underreporting and google analytics isn't picking everything up (surprised to see 3-4x the number of new followers vs. clicks 🤔)

- THERE IS SOMETHING HERE. I still don’t know exactly what the model looks like, how it scales, but there is something to be uncovered.

- Right now, this can’t be done at scale… in the future it could. I spent ~$100 and it took me multiple days. In the future there will be ways to allocate +$10,000 per day here. For context of where we are at right now, Nostr daily zap totals are around 750,000 sats - about $675 - see stats.nostr.band/ for that data)

- Something feels off with the format… simply paying someone and sending them a link… The p2p model feels right, but the format feels off.

That’s why when you have set your final GENESIS key you put it away/lock it in with some method (weld, loctite, jbweld, etc.)

And you are exactly right about backups—you always should have backups, like any other system that generates a new key (paper, Trezor, etc.)
