Following today’s announcement by U.S. President Trump placing a “90-Day PAUSE” on last week’s wave of reciprocal tariffs, causing the stock market to rebound to nearly pre-tariff levels; the odds of a U.S. recession in 2025 fell from over 65% to under 49% on Polymarket’s betting market, representing a significant decrease of roughly 16%.

U.S. President Trump was asked earlier outside the White House why he decided to institute a “90-Day Pause” on nearly all of the reciprocal tariffs announced last week, to which he responded, “Well I though that people were jumping a little bit out of line, they were getting yippy, you know, they were getting a little bit yippy - a little bit afraid.”

The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged over 2,400 points within the last hour, while the S&P 500 gained 6% and the Nasdaq Composite jumped 8%, in response to U.S. President Trump’s announcement earlier of a “90-Day Pause” on nearly all of the reciprocal tariffs imposed recently by the United States against countries across the world, except China which he increased to 125%.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump announced earlier in a post on Truth Social, that he has authorized a “90-Day Pause” for all of the recently announced reciprocal tariffs on countries across the world, except China. Stating that “Based on the lack of respect China has shown to the World’s Markets” and likely in response to today’s 84% retaliatory tariffs announced by China against U.S. imports, the U.S. will be increasing it’s 104% tariff on China which went into effect at 12:01am EDT last night, to 125%.

Additional Chinese actions against U.S. Businesses Announced

The Chinese ministry of Commerce (MOC) has announced the addition of 6 U.S. companies to the Unreliable Entity List. These companies, including Shield AI and Sierra Nevada, have been targeted due to their dealings with Taiwan, who’s sovereignty China does not recognize.

Additionally, the MOC has announce export controls on dual-use items to 12 U.S. tech and manufacturing entities, including drone manufacturers and a number of communications companies.

In a release this morning by the U.S. State Department, Spokeswoman Tammy Bruce states that following the March 5, 2025 designation labeling the Iranian-backed Houthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO); the United States will no longer tolerate any country of commercial entity providing support to the Houthis, including offloading ships and provisioning oil at Houthi-controlled ports in Yemen.

In a report yesterday by The Times, regional intelligence sources revealed that last week Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) secretly transferred hundreds of short to long-range cruise and ballistic missiles to its paramilitary forces in Iraq. The missiles transferred, which included some short-range missiles similar to those previously held by Iraqi proxy groups, such as the “Quds 351” Land-Attack Cruise Missile and the “Zolfaghar” Short-Range Ballistic Missile; also included several long-range surface-to-surface missiles never provided before by Iran to its forces in Iraq, some of which are believed to have a ranges of over 1,000 miles, allowing them to potentially strike targets in Europe.
