Israel is deeply concerned that the United States is nearing a “bad deal” with Iran that fails to meet key conditions necessary to prevent the Islamic regime from acquiring nuclear weapons, according to Channel 12. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz, and an unnamed senior military officer held an urgent meeting this week to discuss the matter. Netanyahu also spoke by phone with U.S. President Trump on Tuesday, who reassured him that the goal of the deal was to “leave no trace” of Iran’s nuclear program and confirmed that the 60-day deadline for reaching an agreement still stands, which alleviated some of Israel’s concerns.

Ukrainian officials as well as President Volodymyr Zelensky have now confirmed that the short-range ballistic missile which struck an apartment block in the capital of Kyiv last night, killing at least 12, was a North Korean manufactured KN-23.

Yesterday, Trump said that trade talks with China were going well and that he was being “kind” to the Chinese so that the tariffs he raised could eventually be lowered.

Today, however, China publicly denied the claim, stating that it’s a lie and that there are no ongoing talks or negotiations with the U.S.

According to Bloomberg, the United States will demand that Russia accept Ukraine’s right to have its own military and defense industry as part of a peace agreement between Moscow and Kyiv, which would require that Russian President Putin drop his demand for demilitarization in Ukraine. In addition, the Trump administration also wants Moscow to return Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which was captured near the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. The plant would then fall under U.S. military and civil control, in order to see that energy is distributed to both Russia and Ukraine. The U.S. will also request that Ukraine have full-access to the Dnieper River and that Russian forces withdraw from the Kharkiv Oblast in Northeastern Ukraine.

These conditions, as well as several concessions that the U.S. hopes Kyiv will eventually agree to, including recognition of Russia’s control over Crimea as well as large parts of the Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts, and an agreement that Ukraine will not attempt to retake the regions using military force, is expected to be raised by White House Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff during his next meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Witkoff will reportedly travel to Moscow for his fourth visit this weekend, though it’s not known if he will meet once again with Putin.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump claims that he will be meeting later today with Jeffrey Goldberg, the Editor-in-Chief of The Atlantic who was inadvertently added to a Signal group-chat early last month by National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, which contained senior administration officials and revealed potentially classified material about the ongoing strike campaign against the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen. According to Trump, he will be meeting with Goldberg as well as writers for The Atlantic, Michael Scherer and Ashley Parker, for an article they are writing titled “The Most Consequential President of this Century” adding that he is doing the interview out of curiosity, to see if The Atlantic can be “truthful” in their story.
