Good questions. Agree with a lot of the above. Think another factor is how easy we (as a community) can make non-custodial usage and specifically earning yield non-custodially. That’s the holy grail. We get closer every day, week, month and year. There could be a tipping point whereby it becomes quite easy to do this and coins flood in. But then, the available yield likely goes down. So, it’ll be a bit of a push and pull, but unlocking easy to use, non-custodial yield generation is probably 🔑

But, when I click through to the relay page, most of them appear online and then I jump to 10/13 or something.

My favorite analogy for Lightning Loop is that it’s a Brinks cash truck for Lightning businesses.
A business fills up on Lightning payments and needs the truck to bring those sats to a safer, on-chain layer. As an added benefit, you replenish your inbound in the process.

Oh absolutely, the amount of development in the Lightning (+ Nostr) space right now is insane. It's my full time job to work on Lightning and it's still hard to keep up on everything going on! ⚡️🏗
In its simplest form, businesses built on Lightning need to receive sats. In order to do so, they need channels opened in their direction (inbound capacity). That inbound is a scarce resource because there’s a limited number of sats and a variety of compelling options to open towards.
Pool allows for node runners to sell that scarce resource to buyers (merchants/businesses)💸

Yep, LND and the Loop/Pool clients are FOSS. Same with LNC and other parts of our stack. IMO, as a business, Lightning Labs really only succeeds if the Lightning Network is as large, non-custodial, and decentralized as possible. We will continue to work hard to make that reality come to fruition.
